I have to wonder if the mom had started up a relationship with her killer again then broke it off. Not victim blaming here but I notice that is often a pattern with these type of murders. The evil sick animals like this killer just will not accept rejection. Too bad she did not truly appreciate what she was dealing with.
The system obviously knew what he was capable of, too bad it failed this woman and her children.

It is not victim blaming to look at the background to a crime and consider the various factors. No one but him is to blame.
Well, this is definitely a crime of passion. Crimes of passion, the killer is completely enraged and really gets into the killing and want their victims DEAD. Especially stabbings, when the victims are stabbed over 100 times.
There is no doubt he should have been in prison.
Who goes around with eight pairs of handcuffs? That sounds like premeditation, not a crime of passion.
