A lesbian couple scrawled homophobic abuse on their garage before burning down their own house in Tennessee then calling it a hate crime, a court ruled.
Carol Ann and Laura Jean Stutte reduced their own house to a pile of charred rubble in September 2010 and branded their neighbor a homophobe in order to get the $276,000 insurance pay out.
But insurers American National Property and Casualty Company caught on to the ruse and accused the couple of faking the fire.

Messed up in more ways than one. They should go to jail. It’s called fraud.
I’m sure they’ll fit in really well with the general prison population.
5 years in jail, please.
Out of curiosity, how did the insurance company prove what they did?
Did someone witness their law breaking?
Orange is the new black
Victimology, fraud, and lies, all par for the course when the basic foundation of society is turned upside down. Hope they do serious time. This is also theft.
The Big Blonde looks like “The Bull” in the relationship.
In Obama’s Amerika, The neighbor would be forced to pay restitution, pain and suffering and also go to jail.
i grew up in MD. a very liberal place. lots of liberal black folks and lots of liberal jewish folks. one thing i learned while growing up there (because it happened so damned often) was that liberals love the attention of being victims and would often report that they’d been victims of hate-inspired crimes, only to have it come out months later that they had faked it all. the local news media would rush to cover stories of crosses being burned into the lawns of black folks, or swastikas being spray painted on synagogue doors, but they rarely ever followed up with stories 6 months later when the police had concluded that the “crimes” had been hoaxes. this happened not once or twice while i was growing up there... but more like once or twice per year. it got to the point where any such story on the news was dismissed by observant people as a likely hoax. i’m not sure if there is a term for this phenomenon. there must be. but it’s very common in 1-party liberal states. i’m not surprised that the LBGTQWGFHYTREAZIOWERT crowd has jumped onto the bandwagon.
What do you mean by "jumped onto the bandwagon"?
Can’t fool those insurance investigators.
“jumped onto the bandwagon” = faking hate crimes against themselves for profit and/or attention
If they ain't already on the bandwagon, it's because they're the ones pushing it.
Munchausen syndrome.
They (and the police) tend to know what arson looks like, since they've had quite a bit of experience with it. People trying to collect insurance tend to do things like moving their valuables out of the house before they set it alight; things of that nature.
i take your point. i guess i mean that they are now visible enough and vocal enough to start participating in this nonsense. when i was a kid in the 70’s, those people were essentially invisible. now, they won’t shut up about being gay or bi or trans or whatever. so they are “on the bandwagon” now, whereas 30-40 years ago they hadn’t yet become a core democRAT fundraising constituency to the the point where the democRATS could mobilize half the country to unquestionably support them in whatever “perversion du jour” was currently in vogue among that 2-3%.
Can’t fool the guys with action-packed expense accounts.
Some, perhaps most, homosexuals exhibit some degree of emotional disorders. Of course, liberals tend to be this way although certainly not all liberals are homosexual. How about homosexual liberals, kind of the daily double I would think.
