DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- More than 380 people in 26 U.S. states have been diagnosed with a stomach illness tied to Mexican cilantro contaminated by human waste, two federal agencies said Tuesday. It's the fourth consecutive summer in which the intestinal infection cyclosporiasis has been reported in the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the cause of the latest outbreak, which appears to have begun after May 1. The FDA said it suspects the contamination came from "contact with the parasite shed from the intestinal tract of humans" in the growing fields, contaminated water or harvesting, processing and packing activities. It causes diarrhea, nausea and fatigue which can last several weeks to a month or more if untreated.

The very definition of organically grown produce; crapped on by Mexicans.
what the heck? Is what is happening in the fields what it sounds like is happening? Is there not a separation of bathroom functions from handling of the crops?? What the heck??
They don’t call it the “turd world” for nothing.
Boycott Mexican cilantro, or all cilantro.
If Trump had just kept his toilet clean!
It wouldn't be surprising to learn they did the same with cilantro.
Mexican night fertilizer!
This salsa has a wang to it.
I don’t buy anything from Mexico..or any other country..
read the labels...
Nope, they (the laborers) $hit where the produce is.
In the beef cattle industry, there have been instances where the Mexican laborers crap directly in the feed bunks. The condition on the cattle is often observed on the carcasses. Often referred to as beef measles.
MFO
This salsa has a wang to it...L.O.L. Yikes!
What the heck.....If any one thinks these field workers go to the local por-ta-potty while in the fields they are nuts
No there is no bathroom separations
Can anyone say Porta-Potty? WTF?
WE avoid anything from Mexico and China. Also Indonesia if we can.
It is very common and disgusting. Think about it. Your in the middle of a 200 acre farm and nature calls....If there wasn’t a bathroom nearby what would you do?
Granted normal people like you and I, would probably find a more suitable area to do our business where we weren’t squatting over the veggies.
Just another reason to wash your fruits and veggies very very well.
When we receive food from countries that don’t regulate anything, this is what you get.
Unless one goes to a farmer's market, all green onions in my area of the country known for raising such items WILL come from Mexico!
I always check local grocery stores and find some labeling such items with country of origin, while others do not. When I check with department manager at that store, I find that, yes, the green onions were "imported from Mexico!"
Unless vegetables have skins and are actually to be cooked to destroy bad stuff, nothing from Mexico, will ever appear in my kitchen!
So not cilantro will taste like soap & crap. Hmmmm, yet another reason why I never touch the stuff...
I’m also very careful NOT to buy food items from 3rd world hellholes like Mexico, but what about restaurant food? A few restaurants near me list on their menus that they only use American beef and chicken, but what about the veggies (or pork for that matter)?
