A Gastonia family has removed a Confederate flag from their truck after they said someone fired half a dozen gunshots at them this weekend.
The shooting happened Saturday night and bullets narrowly missed a passenger's head.
The family showed Eyewitness News reporter Ken Lemon the damage and told him they believe they were targeted.
The father of two, who did not want to be identified, took it down and told Lemon it's not worth flying anymore.

It is a piece of cloth. People are taking it way too seriously. People are going to die? Maybe Roof will get his race war after all.
Unfortunately, a real racist prosecutor would say the flag was provocation, so self-defense would not be allowed as a legal defense.
I live just about 20 minutes from Gastonia . . in Hildebran, NC . . and the Confederate flag flies past my house on a daily basis. And it has always been cheered during the Hildebran Memorial Day Parade. Maybe not this year though.
I grew up 20 minutes or so away on the SC side from there and never a shortage of them when I am up that way.
I have a Ruger sticker and Glock decal on my back window of the F-150. I’ve never been shot at.
All according to plan........
Perhaps we should start firing at the rainbow flags and crap the gays proudly display. Might make a big difference there as well and cause them to remove or take their “rainbows” down. But then..........?

Yeah... you really gotta ask yourself if this issue is worth losing a kid over...
The only sticker I’ve ever displayed on a vehicle is a USMC sticker on my old beach buggy. Over the years I have resisted the temptation to display anything of a political nature, especially anything to mark me as a proud Son of the Confederacy, which I am. The reason: I don’t want to give any affirmative action state trooper (of which there are many) any excuse to stop me and manufacture some situation which might be the downfall of both of us.
Unfortunately, the left will just move on to the next issue and behave the same way.
Appears the Second Civil War may have started!
They won’t be found and no charges will ever come of it.

I think we would also be wise to avoid those stupid gun stickers as well. Makes you stand out like a sore thumb and could provoke any one of the multitude of insane libs out there on the roadways.
That would be a great shame...
