The truth behind Dan Rather’s exit from CBS

Dan Rather is coming to your local movie theater. At least the story behind why he’s no longer at CBS is. In “Truth,” Robert Redford plays Rather. Cate Blanchett plays his CBS producer Mary Mapes.

In 2004, Rather reported that President George W. Bush’s powerful father arranged to keep his son in the National Guard to prevent serving in Vietnam. The report caused such hoo-hah that a treasured 24-year anchorman lost his job.

Dan: “I’ve read the script. It’s serious. People behind it do a good job. It’s two great actors. You couldn’t want for a better cast. Redford playing me makes me feel humble — which is not a word usually associated with anchors.

Revisionism. They know that if they get the last word into movie form then future generations will watch videos of their lies and accept them rather than trouble themselves with studying the written word.

Like the b.s. treatment of LBJ in the SELMA movie. When it was pointed out to the director the film rewrote history, the director responded it’s “open to interpretation.”

No, there are actual FACTS. Things that really happened. There are tape recordings of the actual conversation.

But to leftists, none of that matters.

There is no ‘truth’ - only interpretations.

So, on night number one of the opening at some theater in Nashville...how many people will show up? Twelve? Mostly local journalists? Over the next seven days? Maybe a total of 200 people? With the exception of Austin, I don’t see it being on the screen for more than seven days, then shifted to HBO quickly. Total audience across the entire US via HBO showing? Maybe 100,000. Whoever put money into this....lost their investment. Would have done better with a Zombie thriller or Sherlock Holmes piece.

The liberal professors and teachers use these revisionist films in their classes. These films aren’t designed to sell on the market so much as they are designed for captive audiences.

Anything to do with Dan Rather or Robert Redford is trash, a waste of money, and better time could be had taking your family to the local park...

Well "The Natural" was the only thing I ever liked that Redford did.

Redford playing Rather? LOL

They’ll have to water his face.

The only thing that sucked about this incident (i.e., the exposure of Rather perpetrating a fraud — go ahead and try to sue me, Dan) is that it launched Little Green Footballs and the jerk who runs that site into prominence. That jerk even suckered me in... for a while.

Exactly! They’re probably out of ideas. Well, any good ones, obviously.
Saw where something like 94 of the top 100 movies of one year year (2013-I think) were either remakes or sequels. But then, I don’t really know and really don’t care. I gave up on Commiewood back in the early 90’s. Because of the damage it has done to this once-great country it could fall off into the Pacific and I wouldn’t miss it. But that’s just me ;-)

“”TRUTH” is the title of the movie. “

Rather probably wanted the title of his movie to be “To Hell and Back”.

Ah, yes.

The Dan the Forger movie is likely a fictional re-write (of a fictional re-write), and will be the precise reciprocal of "truth".

A movie that I'd like to see?...

The truth behind Dan Rather's exit from the Marine Corps.

Fact vs “truth”. This is where the progressives usually win.

Who wants to bet it will be three hours long, and never find the time to mention the “throbbing memo.”
