So the media, liberal hacks and so called Republicans have been bashing Donald Trump all day for speaking the truth about songbird John McCain, the often referred to war-hero. Funny, Al Franken, a far left liberal Democrat said something very similar about McCain when he first ran for president in 2000.
I doubt I could cross the line and vote Republican. I have tremendous respect for McCain but I dont buy the war hero thing. Anybody can be captured. I thought the idea was to capture them. As far as Im concerned he sat out the war.
Thats actually worse than what Donald Trump said earlier today. Yet, did you hear the media or GOP go nuts and bash Al Franken for his comments about John McCain in 2000? Of course you didnt, because they were just shrugged off by a left wing lunatic who would eventually become a Senator in the nutball state the call Minnesota.

So why such a contrast in reactions to Al Franken and Donald Trump? Really, its quite simple. Either you are politically correct and suck up to the DC cocktail weenie circuit, or you are branded a hater. I am very disappointed in people like Bobby Jindall and Rick Perry who have bashed Trump over his comments. Neither of these two or any other Republicans who whine about Trump will get my vote in the primary or general election.
You bit your sweet bippy he will.
s/b You bet.
I wonder if those making disparaging McCain’s = I wonder if those making disparaging remarks about McCain’s
Yes he was. Had he not turned traitor, he’d probably be remembered as our greatest combat leader of the Revolution.
Agreed
The hero designation is one which all servicemen deserve, as they are willing to risk their lives for their country.
Being captured by the enemy is the same in spirit as getting a leg blown off or getting killed....and I guess Trump,Al Franken , and some Freepers could say those who died for their country were not heroes, they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time
In short any fool willing to say McCaine or anyone who was a POW is not a hero is full of it ands its a very sad day to watch FR go down this path
Strange bedfellows indeed!
He wants to be a king-maker.
Ted will be that king.
If a fireman puts out 100 fires and saves a dozen lives, then robs a convenience store, does he get a pass on the crime because of his good deeds? Perhaps the good deed carries some weight in the sentencing phase of the trial..
I respect McCain for his service to America and for his time in prison, but he is a disgrace to the conservative movement and needs to label himself, as I label him, a democrat.
If that's true explain why so many Medals of Honor are awarded posthumously to men who died trying to save a wounded buddy or trying to prevent a position being captured.
Chuck Todd will NEVER question democrats on what they think of Al Franken... I'm sure Todd has an excuse ready - on why 'it's different' but the real reason is bias... as it always is with liberal scum...
Yes,he *is* a Rat.But that's not what's under discussion here. The matter at hand is how much respect,if any, does McCain's *military record* warrant. My basic opinion is that if he didn't engage in any misconduct or violate any general orders or orders from superiors at the Hanoi Hilton then he deserves enormous respect...particularly given the savage treatment he withstood.
And,of course, the same is true of,most likely,99.9% of the Americans held by the North Vietnamese savages.
McCain was no Bergdahl...that's for *damn* sure.
I spent a year in country. Funny, I don’t recall seeing that fat-assed Franken anywhere. Anybody know where he was “stationed”? Anyone? Buehler?
Great find! Good job.
My money's on Toronto or in the office of some quack chiropractor who diagnosed a "crippling back injury" (after having been handed $10K in cash).
a left wing lunatic who would eventually become a Senator in the state they call ARIZONA.
Sorry to hear that about jindall.
I Thought he was one of the good guys.
I’ve read that McCain was not following the proper procedures when he was shot down. In other words, he was disobeying orders like he’d been doing since Annapolis. The others who were shot down were doing what they were supposed to do.
McCain graduated at exact bottom of his class from war college. McCain had already crashed several fighter planes before his ill fated bombing mission in Vietnam.
Good pilots from Vietnam war routinely evaded SAM’s (surface to air missile) fired at them. McCain obviously did not know how to evade SAM’s. So he gets shot down, and could not elude his captors on ground. McCain was just a bumbling pilot, not even close to being a war HERO.
The discussion is not if he served honorably. Like you said, any one who does not violate any rules of military gets a honorary discharge. But there is a mile wide gap between serving and a war hero.
A war hero has performed extraordinary bravery under fire. Like Audie Murphy. Or he/she has thrown their body on a live enemy grenade to save their comrades. Or a fighter pilot who shoots down a whole bunch of enemy aircraft.
McCain flunks on all of above criteria for a WAR HERO.
Most of the GOP don’t get what Trump is doing. He has no intention of being POTUS. He couldn’t afford the pay cut and asset divestiture. He wants to be a kingmaker. Cruz gets it.
