House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., charged on Friday that the State Department gave his committee thousands of pages of press clippings in response to a subpoena that was issued in March.
For some reason, Gowdy said, some of those press clippings included articles about actor Richard Gere.
"You know what we got last week? We got 3,600 pages, half of which were press clippings, including articles about Richard Gere," he said on CNN. "So if that is their idea of complying with a congressional investigation, then we are going to be at this for a long time."
The committee said it got 3,600 pages of emails from State on June 29, and said about 2,000 of those pages were the State Department's daily press clippings.

Jail them for contempt!
Just the result of lesser evil. It could end no other way.
only those found in contempt of Congress.
A simple formality and you know it!, And a formality that should be a REGULAR occurrence from what I have seen of testimony before congress., Congress can find you in contempt for any damned reason they desire, including daring to sneeze in front of them..
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Somebody needs to go to jail, then maybe the admin will comply.
Contempt of Congress is when you obstruct their proceedings, typically by obstructing an investigation.
It is not a joke Mr. Gowdy.
Like Issa, Like Boehner, YOU are nothing but
a 100% enabler of crime and treason.
Heck boss, let’s take it easy here. If they start jailing people who are in contempt of Congress, all of us qualify!
The GOP controls both houses of Congress. They can pass a bill appointing a special prosecutor who will not be accountable to the corrupt attorney general.
The GOP has options but chooses not to act. Hence, the GOP is part of the problem.
+1
Goudy Doody is playing conservatives. He’s great on TV and says all the right things conservatives want to hear, but in the end, he’s just playing in the GOP Potemkin village to placate conservatives.
Not surprising. They know you won’t do anything about it.
“Somebody better tell Gowdy he only has about 17 months”
I’m beginning to believe that he is absolutely aware of this.
If Trump actually wants to win the election, all he has to do is put up $10M of his own money for information leading to the arrest/conviction/impeachment of Obama administration officials. ONE HIT from that would be worth 1000 times everything Issa and Gowdy have done in years.
Did you catch his comment about how if the State Dept. keeps this up, we’re going to be at this for a long time? What a pathetic response.
Well Mr. Gowdy the State Department seems to be sending you a message. A very clear message about Congress’s standing. Seems they are flippin’ you, therefore Congress the wee birdie. Your leadership has been compromised, and therefore the State Department can mock you, chide you, blaspheme you as they wish.
If you had the guts everyone says you have you’d be doing more than threatening. You are in a position of capability, but seem incapable.
Wondering what the ‘H’ we are doing sitting here waiting for you people to do something when it’s obvious nothing is going to happen.
*****
What does he have against Gere?
Brad Pitt? Maybe next time he should ask for press clippings of Brad Pitt, or how about a female star like Joline?
The Dems are laughing at Gowdy and co because they know nothing will happen.
You know something? I understand Gowdy and the GOP. Someone paid them in Coke, hookers, young boys or threats of FBI files exposing same. I don’t like it but I get it.
What I don’t get are people that take a dump on their own integrity in public for no gain whatsoever, just to support it. But I guess it saves them money on renting a Dominatrix for their humiliation.
Personally I’d rather rent a Dom and get something out of it. Like scar tissue. but that’s just me I suppose.
Gowdy has the RIGHT to jail people that obstruct Congress - until he does so he has NO RIGHT to whine.
