Politico media correspondent Dylan Byers is reporting that HarperCollins, the publisher of Ted Cruz's popular new book, A Time for Truth: Reigniting the Promise of America, wrote the New York Times to inquire why, exactly, the title was not included on the bestseller list.
The Times, for its part, denies any bias or shady dealing, insisting that the book simply hasn't met all the relevant criteria for appearing on the list. Asked for a rundown of that criteria, however, the Gray Lady refused to elaborate (emphasis mine):
This week, HarperCollins, the book's publisher, sent a letter to The New York Times inquiring about Cruz's omission from the list, sources with knowledge of the situation said. The Times responded by telling HarperCollins that the book did not meet their criteria for inclusion.
"We have uniform standards that we apply to our best seller list, which includes an analysis of book sales that goes beyond simply the number of books sold," Times spokesperson Eileen Murphy explained when asked about the omission. "This book didn't meet that standard this week."
Asked to specify those standards, Murphy replied: "Our goal is that the list reflect authentic best sellers, so we look at and analyze not just numbers, but patterns of sales for every book."

I’m guessing they think that the Cruz Campaign, his SuperPac and/or wealthy donors are buying up the book in bulk quantities to try to get it onto the list.
For reference, this is exactly what Joe Kennedy Sr. did with JFK’s books, including Profiles in Courage. But it’s still considered to have been a best seller ...
Yeah, “shifty” is exactly the word I was looking for.
Clue: 1996 Hillary Clinton best seller
Not surprised. They aren’t referred to as the New York Slimes for nothing! Rag is goin’ down....
Pay no attention to that east coast, leftist rag’s little list. Just look at sales on Amazon and other sites that base their ranking on the numbers. The Times is last century’s news. It’s wholly irrelevant.

What they mean is they hate Ted Cruz and wouldn’t put him on the best sellers list if he was selling a million copies a day.
So the liberal NY Times have this complicated algorithm to determine best sellers which results in the most conservative presidential candidates’ book not making the list despite sales which would otherwise qualify it?
What are the odds! An amazing coincidence!

I understand that if they DID simply go by numbers, the Bible would be number one every single week. So their criteria must specifically take that one out.
Sure thing. I always believe whatever the Slimes says/s
