United Russia to Unveil 'Straight Flag' in Honor of Traditional Family

Russia's ruling political party has designed a “heterosexual flag” to honor traditional family values, the Izvestia newspaper reported Wednesday.

Copies of the flag, which feature the outlines of a man and a woman holding hands with three children, were shown to Izvestia by Andrei Lisovenko, deputy head of the United Russia branch in Moscow. The flags also come printed with the Russian-language hashtag “A Real Family.”

According to Lisovenko, the flag will have its official unveiling at Moscow's Sokolniki park later Wednesday, where hundreds of people will gather for a United Russia rally in honor of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which the country celebrates annually on July 8.

United Russia's decision to unveil a “heterosexual flag” comes after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to legalize same-sex marriage in late June, when the White House was lit up in the colors of the rainbow flag traditionally associated with the LGBT community.

“This is our response to same-sex marriage, to this mockery of the concept of the family. We have to warn against gay-fever at home and support traditional values in our country,” Lisovenko was quoted as saying by Izvestia.

If such a flag is sold or circulated here in the states, it better be highly durable and washer/dryer ready. I can see many ‘rainbow’ people trying to destroy or distort it.

Yes it truly is a Bizarro World situation. But good for them. I hope they stay strong on this issue and keep putting us to shame until we see the error of our ways.

I don't like to see the LGBT's over in Russia being bullied or worse, they have every right to be left alone and live their lives in peace. However, they are being used by the left here and in other places as a tool to "stick it" to those who disagree and/or have traditional beliefs. This is hypocrisy since now they are the bullies by default. No one should be bullied at all, as I put it, the pendulum should be somewhere in the middle.

So in response, I'm glad to see them stand up for family values as well as a response to being bullied. I often joked that if "Red Dawn" was remade with Russians invading today, I think the partisans would join up with the Russians instead of fighting them in order to save America from the totalitarian left.

I can understand some of the anger LBGT's have since they've been bullied for years but it is worse that because of the left's agenda, they have been whooped up so much where now they are the bullies, that is just as wrong.

Being the libertarian I am,I have friends on both sides of the issue, I don't want to see anyone of them to get hurt, too bad we cannot just respect our differences and agree to disagree and just live our lives and move on. Still, unless they stop, we will have to push back out of necessity. I don't care who marries who or who sleeps with who, as long as they get a room and are at or above the age of consent as the local laws say. Even so, deep down inside for myself, I believe in traditional values, so I do believe we need equal protection for those who do disagree and believe in traditional values.

If you want my opinion, the left really doesn't care about LGBT rights, they are just another vehicle use so they can get their way. They also ally with radical Islam and that will bite them after they bite us. To the left, they are on a jihad and don't care as long as they get their way, as much as I abhore it since innocents will get hurt, we will have to use force at some point since all other options are being exhausted.

The downside to Russia, they have no history of a free, republican government system like we do with a bill of rights but I cannot condemn them for pushing back against the left.

I believe most LGBT people will not seek to molest young kids but like any other group, there are always some who will for whatever reason. They should be subject to the laws and upon a conviction after a fair trial, be punished and locked up.

I know of NAMBLA, again if they break any laws, then they must face trial and if convicted, go to jail for a long time. Anyway, what they want is wrong, a young child cannot give consent because they do not have the mental judgment to make those decisions as well as not being physically capable either. We have to say “no” to NAMBLA.

The graphic which the Soviets are claiming that they designed appears to have been floating around the Internet with different comments written in English and other languages for at least two years.
