The United States of America is a great country. You can debate absolutely anything, whether or not it has merit, and whether or not it's any of your business.
But guns? There's nothing to debate. Throw out all the numbers and expert opinions. I've got your expert right here, and it's called EXPERIENCE.
Just before midnight June 30th, my husband, Chuck de Caro, and I and our Weimaraner were four days into an all-American, cross-country road trip. We'd just dined with a friend in Albuquerque and intended to hit historic Route 66, then stop for the night.
Realizing it was late and Route 66 is no fun in the dark, we stopped at a pet-friendly Motel 6. Chuck showered; I went to the car for dog food.
The armed guard patrolling the second floor was engrossed in a phone conversation, instead of checking the parking lot.
I unlocked our door, picked up the food I'd placed at my feet and was assaulted by a jackass with a big, silver semi-automatic weapon.
He shoved me into the room. I was airborne and landed on the bed. He shut the door and stood behind it, gun on me, debating his next move.
He didn't expect Chuck to open the bathroom door. My husband (Air Force Academy, U.S. Army Special Forces), said "What's going on here?" and advanced into the room. Stark naked and dripping wet, he maneuvered himself in front of the small table between the beds, concealing two small .380 legal handguns we'd brought in from the car.

Yeah she does.
Lynne Russell, a former CNN anchor who worked for the cable network between 1983 and 2001 and who was attacked by an armed felon during a trip with her husband issued a sharp rebuke against those who want to control Americans access to guns: Shut the f up, she said, to a local television station.
If you dont want to carry, please dont, Russell said to Fox 411. Then, shut the f up about it. Make your own decisions.

Takin’ out the trash ...
Prayers for Mr. de Caro’s full recovery.
“Call 911, that’s what it’s for.”
See recent stories about Dallas cops taking time off from answering calls to study for promotion exams in the union office.
See recent stories about long wait times all over the country.
I'd like to hear the story on how he went from the Air Force to the Army, or vice-versa.
Would be interesting.
Any motel that has an armed guard patrolling is probably a motel that I'd avoid to begin with.
great... I am glad she is ok..
now on to the second amendment..
this will piss off a lot of people..
ready..
according to the federalist papers, the second amendment was not written to ALLOW you to defend yourself in your home, or to go out and shoot a deer to feed your family..
it was written to allow a country who’s government has gone rogue a way to overthrown said government..
with that in mind...
it is not only the right, but the DUTY of every citizen in this nation to not only possesses, but to keep and maintain the very arms that our military possesses...
this includes machine guns, mortars, rockets, artillery and any other weapon our military possesses..
tanks, aircraft and warships are included in this..
it may surprise most of you that during the revolutionary war our fledgling country LEASED warships and cannon from private owners..
in a way we had more rights under the crown than we do now.....
all I await is the next stupid question from a stupid freeper (yes there is one in every crowd)..
please answer this if you dare...
I bet one of the first things they will do when he gets through recovery is up the caliber of the tools.
Not certain about his story, but any academy is a source for commissioning in any of the 4 DoD branches, not just their primary sponsor.
this includes machine guns, mortars, rockets, artillery and any other weapon our military possesses..
tanks, aircraft and warships are included in this..
Not quite. Most of what you list is 'ordnance' of which the Founding Fathers were quite familiar with and specifically did not include. Their rationale is debatable, but the distinction is clear. I agree with your major premise about the philosphy of the 2A, in that its primary intent was to provide for the defense against tyranny, which is why militia practice was conducted after church every Sunday throughout the newly founded United States.
You are also correct about the fledgning US government leasing warships, they also wrote letters of marque to the same ends.
the answer to that question is "yes" ... but it's prohibitively expensive.
The truth is that the left has a wet dream when it comes to the abolition of private ownership of guns. Our problem is that we've allowed them as much ground as they already gained. The fact that I cannot own a machine gun manufactured after 1986.
you, sir..
are rotten to the core..
I like you... :)
you have done a good job of pettifogging the issue..
please state your position in clear English..
thank you
After my mag is empty and a new one is in - THEN I call "911"
The Founders probably never even considered that these would be an issue.
Once upon a time, an academy graduate whose father was from another service could receive a commission in that service, sort of professional courtesy. It was rare and perhaps even more rare these days. A few others transfer to another service after some passage of time.
Billy Mitchell (real name), USMA Class of ?? served with the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam as an Infantry Platoon Leader. He served a second tour as a Captain, advisor to a Vietnamese Ranger Battalion. After that tour, he was assigned to the Florida Ranger Camp at Eglin AFB. He tried to get into Army flight school, but they had plenty of teenaged Warrant Officers, so no deal. Some Air Force friends told him that the USAF was desperate for pilots and he asked for a transfer and flight school. The USAF said yes, and he served a third tour driving an F4. I met him in Europe when he was flying F15’s.
letters of marque
I’ve got my E-mail of Marque here somewhere...
Maybe it’s on my own server...
please tell me where the word “ordinance” appears in the second amendment..
we will talk further after you answer this one..
wow!!!
you are right on the money!!!
you are welcome into the clan...
