OK governor defies Supreme Court — Ten Commandments will stay at capitol

There’s a showdown at the OK capitol.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has vowed that a Ten Commandments monument on capitol grounds, which the state Supreme Court recently ruled was unconstitutional, will remain through appeal, KOCO reports.

“The Ten Commandments monument was built to recognize and honor the historical significance of the Commandments in our state’s and nation’s systems of laws,” Fallin says in a statement.

“The monument was built and maintained with private dollars. It is virtually identical to a monument on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol which the United States Supreme Court ruled to be permissible. It is a privately funded tribute to historical events, not a taxpayer funded endorsement of any religion, as some have alleged.”

Fallin and Attorney General Scott Pruitt are appealing the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“Oklahoma is a state where we respect the rule of law, and we will not ignore the state courts or their decisions. However, we are also a state with three co-equal branches of government. At this time, Attorney General Scott Pruitt, with my support, has filed a petition requesting a rehearing of the Ten Commandments case,” according to the governor.

Throughout the appeal? If I were the Governor I’d sent the USSC an engraved placard that says “Dear USSC, suck it very much”

Can’t he just label the capital a sanctuary city for the Ten Commandments?

Armed citizen volunteers should defend that monument 24/7

When the federal courts ordered a Ten Comamndments monument taken down at the Alabama Supreme Court in 2002 the Republicans caved led by the then Republican governor.

Chief Justice Roy Moore, who wanted the monument up, was removed from his position to accomplish it by the GOP Alabama executive branch. Moore has since won his post back at election time.

We’ll see what Mary Fallin is made of if the federal courts rule against the monument in Oklahoma. I suspect she’ll cave like the GOP in Alabama did in 2002.

Let's hope so. But as far as I'm concerned their central government doesn't matter to me anymore. It is a metastasized cancer.

“Sorry....”

Actually, I probably owe you an apology for not correctly identifying the Oklahoma SC as “a$$holes” too. Same kettle of fish, just a different hangout. Cruz is right, we need to implement “retention elections” for every judge in the country, and we ought to remove for cause any one of them who flagrantly violates the law ( oh, then again, that might be most of them).

No problem....my way of thinking these days is that most any judge that is above probate level is a liberal ideologue and part of a pervasive plot to defeat this country from within. There ARE exceptions to my rule, but they are few and far between. Especially the higher up you go.

How many religious engraved quotes, paintings, statues, etc. are ensconced in or on the Supreme Court building, the Capitol, the White House, countless other government buildings, the various DC shrines, monuments, war memorials, the national Arlington Cemetery main building, its gravestones and mausoleums.......and other such public areas across the fruited plain?

Does anything with any Biblical or religious connotation or reference have to be sandblasted, removed, destroyed, toppled or stashed away in museums?

Our running-amok, liberal-infested judicial system is amoral, corrupt and politicized beyond our wildest nightmares !

God help us!

Through the appeal? I wish someone would just say “Screw you”....we’re not touching it. Come down here and rip it down yourself and we’ll arrest you for destruction of private property.
