From the man who brought you malaise, now an even more depressingly negative view of America . . . On today's Morning Joe, Jimmy Carter declared that America is in "inevitable decline."
But no finger-pointing at President Obama, please: Carter declared that the decline is "not because of any defect or fault on the part of the President of the United States." Cue the Cole Porter: it's just one of those things.

Its the fault of the people who nominated and voted for him.
I guess he also thinks that his own period of “malaise” and the subsequent boom when Reagan took over were also “inevitable” and neither he or the Gipper deserves any blame/credit. How.....convenient for the loser.
Just shut the **** up.
Please?
His optimism is unchanged since his Presidency.
Or is he trying to climb back to status of worst in history prior to his death?
It is a race against time.
“It’s just happening as an historical, evolutionary, unavoidable circumstance. “
Jimmy speaks the truth. There’s a balance between the makers and takers (including Looters like Warren Buffett and Moochers -a person who is supported by or seeks support from another without making an adequate return). Historically, evolutionary societies are made complacent by its own success.
“When half (47%?) of the citizens realize that they don’t have to work because the other half will take care of them and the other half realizes that they won’t receive what they work for, a nation is finished.”
Who would want someone like Carter defending them?
What he said really does not sound that bad or damning. If you read the transcript. It’s just the truth. He talking influence through out the world, based on what other countries are doing. China for instance. China has, what? 2 billion people? And they have changed over the years from a pure communist country to one that is a hybrid of communism and capitalism. Is there anyone here that doesn’t think it is inevitable that China takes over the #1 spot economically? Hell, it’s just scale.
He’s not talking Social decline which is a whole nother thing.
From what I read he’s not talking badly of the United States. For once.....
The west transplanted technology and factories whole sale into a backwards country. The Chinese didn’t do it , we did it . Stupidly so.
It started with you peanut breath......Uhhhh...Wilson is more apt.
This would be like Dan Rather lecturing us that we have bias in the media, but then urging us not to blame ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN or MSNBC.
You’re 90 Jimmah, time to go! Permanently!
