Rich countries are very, very far from raising the billions they promised to help poor countries fight climate change, jeopardising the prospects of reaching a global warming deal at Paris, the worlds rising economies warned.
As a key United Nations meeting got underway, Brazil, China, India and South Africa said they were disappointed in rich countries failure to make good on a promise six years ago to mobilise $100bn a year by 2020 for climate finance.
The funds, intended to help developing countries cut their greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for sea-level rises, extreme weather and other consequences of climate change, are seen as a crucial element to reaching a global warming agreement at the end of the year.
Mondays high-level meeting of the UN general assembly including an appearance from Robert Redford was intended to help build momentum for a Paris deal that would keep warming to 2C.
By some estimates, there is less than $20bn a year in public finance making its way to developing countries for climate action or less than a fifth of the $100bn target.

All their G-5s need a lot of avgas. Gorebaby needs a few more cheeseburgers.
Fight? Sounds violent. How about fix? As in permanent corrective action. Oh, can’t be fixed? Well then, no fighting money.
NO.
But I guarantee their are a few marketing geniuses on a boat in the Caribbean right now laughing all the way to the bank.
Who are these rich countries?
Could any of them maybe spot the USA $17 trillion or so, just until next month?
All they need is $1million more!
This money was promised by Obama and Hillary ,so forget it
geez - India China Brazil and SA are upset... not our problem
Not to be picky, but a G-5 drinks JetA. Understood you were referring to "aviation fuel" and "avgas" is a generic term.
JetA is kerosine with various additives to prevent the growth of biological crud, etc. Avgas is Aviation gasoline, high octane gasoline with additives to deal with vapor pressure, etc.
Rich countries are not buying into their extortion scheme based on an obvious Hoax
Thanks. I’ll remember that for when I get my G-5....BTW, you been polluting I hear. I think you should have to buy some carbon credits from me. Every credit you buy is one more towards my G-5. :0)
The only thing that can stop Climate Change is giving all your money and freedom to the governments of the world!
Whatever disasters they have fabricated are not even 1/1000th as bad as the “cure”
Gibsmedats on a national level.
China is a rich country and one of the biggest polluters on the planet.
Let them pony up the money for this scam.
If you need a co-pilot....
Naaa, I'm neither Multi-engine nor type rated and probably could not pass a Class2 Medical.
I've recently cut down on the beans, but CO2 and Water Vapor emissions remain about the same. I'm letting the grass & weeds grow in my "Nature Preserve" to "sequester" my CO2. My carbon footprint is Size 9D.

Two Leftie fruitcakes meet for a chat about their favourite fantasy.
It isn’t about actually practicing what you preach. It’s about feelings, intentions and those ulterior motives no one wants to talk about. It’s about power, control and money.
In the end, they’d line you up along side a ditch and blow your brains out like the Nazis did all because you don’t think and act like them.
