Fresh off their biggest legal victory, gay rights supporters began to expand their efforts beyond same-sex marriage to a broad push to rewrite civil rights law and extend protections to other personal and financial actions.
A liberal coalition spanning gay rights groups and traditional African-American leaders turned its attention to a new legislative bid to outlaw discrimination against homosexuals in employment, housing, financial dealings and other regular actions not protected under the Supreme Court's ruling declaring same-sex marriage a constitutional right.
"You can be married on Saturday, post your pictures on Instagram on Sunday and fired from your job on Monday," Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., the lead sponsor in the House of the new legislation, said Saturday.
After Friday's ruling, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., the sponsor of the legislation in that chamber, emailed thousands of supporters asking them to get behind the new bid because, despite the marriage decision, it is still legal in some states to "kick someone out of a diner or other public accommodation because of who they love."(continued)

America has seceded from us
There is — of course — never enough.
Wait until the first Muslim family with four wives and 21 children files a "fair housing" discrimination suit against a homosexual landlord.
I saw where someone said ‘gay’ is the new ‘black’ .... I wonder how Jesse & Al will feel about that?
It’s also an “interesting” situation that the First Black President has done very little for ‘blacks’ and so much for ‘gays’ ... even painted the WH with the gay flag colors.
“America has seceded from us.”
So very, very true.
Not anymore. Obama has changed their minds.
Jack Paar would not be allowed to say that in this world although I wouldn’t say it either.
Paar identified what gay people were doing in the entertainment and fashion industries then and they have been doing it ever since with increasing visibility.
But why were gay people doing this? For reasons involving bullying in childhood, codependency or addiction issues, sexual abuse in childhood and so on, among other things.
I identify with LGBT people, not as LGBT. I don’t want to fight them, I want to demonstrate Love to them, which they try to find through their sexuality.
Love in its spiritual form isn’t sexual. That’s where LGBT people have taken a course which could be disastrous especially if they continue on a pathway of imposing their wills on others who are unwilling.
Same sex marriage won’t help them find peace anymore than a confused person obtaining a “sex change” brings lasting peace.
I suspect it is the attire, volume of conversation, foul language used in conversation, or nauseating public displays of affection that get them ejected; not merely two men or two women out on a date.
Time was hotels wouldn't rent a room to unmarried couples of opposite sex (between adulterous affairs and prostitution, they didn't want to be involved).
“Perhaps the CSA will rise again?”
Thank God the South still has a battle flag they can rally around...oh...wait...never mind. /s
“You can be married on Saturday, post your pictures on Instagram on Sunday and fired from your job on Monday,”
What legislation can we pass that will protect them from the wrath of God?

Where are they going? I’d like to join them.
forcing others to participate in your perversion is not “protection”
>>Slippery slope, here it is.
I keep thinking we’re going to hit the bottom of that slope any day now. But, nope, we just keep on sliding down, down, down. This is like a bottomless pit.
They want affirmative action for gays, and immunity from being fired. Any attempt to fire one, or not hire one, will produce a discrimination lawsuit.
They don't want equality -- they want supremacy.
>>No one speaks up.
Everybody knows what’s in room 101.
Not with a bang but a whimper.
This is the way the Republic ends.
Yep.
Little things like pointing out that Nature selected Sex and not the mutual masturbation selected for worship by reprobate perverts.
