Karen Finney, a top advisor for Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, declined to answer if she believes churches that refuse to perform same sex marriages should lose their tax exempt status. Responding to a question from Breitbart News, Finney dodged with, honestly today just thinking about what this means for my LGBT friends.

Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
“declined to answer if she believes churches that refuse to perform same sex marriages should lose their tax exempt status.”
Well, that’s a big ‘ol YES.
That is why those churches could very well be getting out of the tax-exempt status.
honestly today just thinking about what this means for my LGBT friends.
What this means for her queer friends is that they now have a massive sledge hammer to used against Christians.
But.....but.....justice kennedy said in his ruling that churches and people of faith were not going to be persecuted! /MASSIVE SARC
Which opens up a whole new can of worms with churchs being under the thumb of tax enforcement and the IRS. We know well that worked out for conservative political groups.

Lets hope this comes up in a debate.
Once churches start paying taxes, what do they get in return? Some churches are pretty big, will pay a lot of taxes like corporations. Libs should be careful what they ask for.
Of course they will. But they may lie about it first. Just like marriage was a state issue when we were talking about DOMA or FMA.
It’s bizarre that this is even a discussion. Churches clearly should not be required to marry anyone they believe does not meet their religious guidelines for marriage.
Churches are far from the only entities that can perform marriages. A Justice of the Peace and many other officials can perform marriages. That’s where gays can be married if they can’t find a church to perform a ceremony. And there should be no question of threatening tax exempt status.
If courts won’t make that clear and easy distinction, then...
Ultimately it will mean the government will confiscate their property when they cannot pay their property tax. it will be a windfall for the government. Of course they have already spent that money and then some, but...
Clean your houses because if you want to do church, it is going to be held there.
Yes, just ANOTHER excuse to attack Constitutional freedoms by the radical left (or just left, nowadays). When will mosques by tested to see if they support gay marriage??? Oh wait....
Until now churches have not had demands made on them in order to keep tax exempt status. All sorts of ridiculous practices have been tolerated. But Zero’s team has already said this will be an issue.
Many judges in North Carolina resigned rather than perform these ceremonies. North Carolina just passed a law to help that, but after today, I don’t see that holding up. Another lawsuit will fix them for good.
What’s the over and under on number of days until there’s a lawsuit by a same-sex couple against a church that doesn’t agree with same sex marriage?
There are other bakeries right down the street, too, but that didn’t matter and they are now bankrupt and out of business.
The question is whether the Obama administration will mount a full-scale attack on non-compliant churches immediately, calculating that a Republican might win in 2016, or pretend there is no intention to force churches into compliance in order to help the Democrats win in 2016.
About the same in Alabama. Some Probate Judges closed offices for a time and used other tactics to avoid issuing marriage licenses or performing ceremonies.
They probably can’t do that any longer.
“Until now churches have not had demands made on them in order to keep tax exempt status.”
There is massive and inarguable evidence that the “no-politicing” rules required of tax exempt churches have been ignored for years.
Until now, of course. Where they will be applied equally, with some being more equal than others.
