"The Confederate Flag Is The Legacy Of Democrats, Not Republicans" was the word put out by Rush Limbaugh just hours before Republican Governor Nikki Haley appeared with Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott to call for removal of the Confederate Flag from the Statehouse grounds in Columbia, SC.
Atlanta talk show host Erick Erickson of RedState.com also came out for flag removal.
Posters here on FR have amplified their views. Much of the spin again associates Democrats with the Confederate Flag to justify the latest cave in to Leftist pressure.
But I remember one such Democrat from South Carolina, Strom Thurmond, who switched to Republican in 1964 and was a supporter of RIchard NixOn for President in 1968.
The switch of the white southern voter who once supported segregation from Democrat to Republican meant a Southern sweep for Nixon in 1972 and Reagan in 1984 and more sweeps for the GOP beyond that in congressional races.
Its led to GOP control of southern state legislatures as well.
Some Republican legislators in South Carolina have stepped up to the plate to oppose the Leftist campaign against the Confederate Flag.
Just because an insane mass murderer who attacked a church used a Confederate flag we have to suddenly put the flag into hiding.
An insane mass murderer famous in my childhood named Charles Manson used to display a poster of Jesus Christ.
This 21st Century hi tech witch hunt has a life of its own with attempts to spin the Republican leaders decision as a positive one and associate the Confederate flag with Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and Bill Clinton.
Just like we had with the furor that caused Republican leaders to cave in two states (Indiana and Arkansas) this spring over First Amendment Religious Freedom protection for gay marriage objectors, corporate America has weighed in again.
Fortune 500 leader Wal-Mart is pulling Confederate flag merchandise from its stores.
I think people should be able to display the flags of their choice from Confederate to Gadsen to Rainbow without being demonized in an emotional frenzy.
What will be put on the chopping block next by the witch hunters?
I still remember how a Republican Senator, Pat Toomey, of my state (PA) caved in to Bloomberg and Schumer and the other gun grabbers over the mass murder at the Connecticut school a few years ago. Toomey came out in support of anti-Second Amendment legislation.
When I see Republican politicians and those media that support Republican politicians caving into the Left and giving us talking points about Democrats and the flag, it reminds me of the notion that there is no real difference between these two major parties.
One is 100 percent anti-Conservative, the other 95 percent anti-Conservative......Our Uniparty system bends to Leftists and Corporate elites and media figures associated with Conservatives also march in lockstep as we have seen in the last 24 hours.
The racist legacy of the DemocRAT Party has been successfully transferred onto the Republican Party simply because “leaders” in the Republican Party are too intimidated to stand up and set the record straight.
It isn’t in their interest to do so. If it was, they would.
Rush was raised in a Yellow Dog Democrat area of Missouri known as Little Dixie. To consider the Confederate flag to be the legacy of Democrats would be natural to him, not spin.
However, the biggest issue to fight back against these Leftist witch hunts, is that it should be the decision of each individual state (or team), not this national pressure from the nazis' of the Left.
Since South Carolina democRATs put the flag up in 1962 as a symbol of protest against the civil rights movement, it may be fine to take it down there but leave it in Mississippi, where a majority of citizens ... both black and white, voted to keep it on their state flag ... (the Confederate battle flag was put on their state flag shortly after the Civil War ...)
Flags are symbols—that is their essence.
I believe in free speech and the right to display whatever flag one chooses.
But I also believe in the right of others to exercise their free speech in condemning what they believe to be the symbolism of a flag.
And I support those who don’t believe the Confederate flag is an appropriate state symbol in 2015.
I don’t think this has much to do with Rush’ Mizzou upbringing...he was specifically talking about Fritz Hollings putting the flag up...a Demcorat - and David Beasely removing it from the dome and Nikki Haley removing it from the grounds altogether.
I picked up just this narrow political irony as Rush’ point.
Reasonable...and frankly, I don’t think it’s a hill worth dying on anyway. For either side.
It means “We are going to continue to send government agents to kill and imprison your sons and daughters but don’t worry, we took care of that flag”.
Thanks for the info.
Wimpety, wimpity, wimp wimp wimp.
Nobody have any balls anymore??
............I guess not.
I am sure the Republican party establishment set down and had a long reasoned discussion before they decided, they no longer needed Southern Sympathizers like me.
I am sure that after this long reasoned discussion, they came to the conclusion that by alienating an unknown percentage of these hated southerners, they could convince at least another two or three percent of the sainted black voters to pull the lever for them. Hell, even one percent of that thirteen percent of the population should carry them right in to the presidency, and a huge majority in congress. Then Happy Daze will be here again.
Has Hillary condemned the use of the Confederate flag by her husband's campaign? (If not, we'll just assume she was in favor of it.)
It’s a Democrat flag. Let the Dems burn their own flag.
The cof c wins again as always. How come unless we are on their side we never win? They don’t need us again sine we helped lower their taxes. Maybe it is time to raise them.

Too many whites kowtow to the race industry. Is there a line to be crossed or will they just keep backing up?
The Marxist will and are demonizing the founders and history of this nation. It is only the whites who concede that white history is evil and are the oppressors of the world that for the time being are left alone. It doesn’t take much imagination to see where it all leads. Once they are through with all things Confederate do the quislings honestly think they will stop there?
He grew up with family that were leaders in the Republican Party in SE Missouri and regardless of how I see the situation, El Rushbo had “GOP” stamped on his backside at birth, God Bless Him.
I just don’t agree with his blind support of the GOP anymore because Republicans can’t be supported in matters I mentioned in this post.
I’ve listened to him since 1990 and use his name in my screen name, but I don’t follow the ‘party line’ anymore when Republicans cave to the Left.
