The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct their third annual LGBT Night at Dodger Stadium at Friday nights game against the World Series champion San Francisco Giants.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Lisa Vanderpump will throw the ceremonial first pitch. Country singer Ty Herndon will sing the national anthem. Recording artist Lance Bass will announce the Dodgers starting lineup.
Major League Baseballs Ambassador of Inclusion Billy Bean, who played 59 games for the Dodgers in 1989, will be present for pregame festivities.
David Kopay, a former NFL running back who in 1975 became one of the first professional athletes to come out as gay, and EJ Johnson, a cast member of the E! alternative series Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and a son of Dodger part-owner Magic Johnson, will also be recognized.
The Dodgers will also recognize athletes from the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association, a gay and lesbian slow-pitch softball league committed to providing an opportunity for both gay and non-gay participants to compete in an environment supportive of the gay community, and the Varsity Gay League, Californias largest LGBTQ recreational sports league, which conducts sports leagues, tournaments, outside-the-box competitions and gaming activities throughout the year.
A fireworks show set to music presented by DJ and producer Jeremy Blacklow is scheduled to follow the game. Fans will be invited onto the field to watch the show, which will take place before 11 p.m. and is subject to cancellation if the game lasts too long.
Pregame entertainment will include DJ Adam in the right field plaza and a stilt walker in the left field plaza from 5-7 p.m.
The Military Hero of the Game will be U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jaime Soto of Torrance, who served two consecutive combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Soto is the course chief for the Mountain Communications Course and cold weather mountain warfare instructor at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California.
Auto gates will open at 4:40 p.m. and stadium gates at 5:10 p.m. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 6:55 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game.
I hope they lose money on ticket sales and concessions.
A’s are doing a “Pride Night” also.
I remember about ten or twelve years ago, the Braves boasted about their gay day at the ballpark. When it came, there was no mention of it on the broadcast and no shots of the crowd.
Let’s be honest. Republicans, a lot of them, wont give anything up to make a statement.
I will NEVER watch ESPN again for not giving that girl with cancer the courage award and giving it to that freak jenner.
“what the hell will i wear” he/it said.
WTH
I was hoping he had integrity and would say gie it to that girl that played basketball while DYING of brain cancer. But he didn’t.
Wow, have you got a week gag reflex.
I'm thinking my stomach contents would probably start emptying sometime after parking the car and be done before reaching the main gate.
Then that’s the end. MLB once faggified is over for this household.
Ty Herndon is a pole smoker? Ha!
A day at the ballpark use to be a family activity. I wouldn’t want my family near that perversion. So if I knew of it in advance I would have stayed home. And when I take the kids to the ballpark, I’m normally a big spender. Of course they always have the gays.
I’ll bet the bobbingheads are a real hoot.
I’ve already given up on MLB. Didn’t see a single pitch last year, not even for the World Series.
Ill bet the bobbingheads are a real hoot.
Omg rofl!!
Which ones will be the pitchers and which ones will be the catchers?
I hope the Black Sunday blimp shows up.
Anybody else find it amusing that queer night is also the night they host San Francisco?
Think maybe somebody in the Dodgers org threw us some red meat?
"How to speak San Franciscan...."
Baseball has become corporate drek. You can’t boo. They tell you when to cheer. You can’t change seats if people in a lower section don’t show. The players rarely sign anything or mix it up with the fans. It’s the opposite of what it was that made it so grand. Leave it to the gays. Let them have it. Who wants to pay 90 bucks for a single seat at that crap?
What will be funny is the families who consider themselves to be progressive and accepting, who will haul their kids to the ballpark. Once they see the make up clad, hairy men in lingerie , the bare chested men in leather french kissing each other and the bull dukes fondling each other, I bet they beat a hasty retreat.
Post of the day material right there man.
I still read LGBT as lettuce, guacamole, bacon and tomato.
Then stories like this shake me from that delicious thought to make me lose my appetite.
I stopped following Major League Baseball when they introduced inter-league play.
My son is learning the game from Little League, and YouTube clips.
For us, baseball ends with the Dodgers-As World Series.
