Leaders of the Catholic Church in America took their marching orders from the Popes encyclical on Thursday, fanning out to Congress and the White House to push for action on climate change.
The high-level meetings offered a first glimpse of a vast and highly organised effort by the leadership of Americas nearly 80 million Catholics to turn the Popes moral call for action into reality.
It is our marching orders for advocacy, Joseph Kurtz, the president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Archbishop of Louisville, said. It really brings about a new urgency for us.

that smacks of some sort of conspiracy nonsense Calling another poster's point of view "conspiracy nonsense" entitles you to a verbal smackdown.
If you don't want a cheeky reply, don't pick a fight.

(Let's call it what it is: Climate Immorality. Now say a Dozen Hail Marys and six Our Fathers.)

I heard about the two being linked, but I doubt anyone in the media will notice, just like they focused strongly on the "who am I to judge?" as an endorsement of gay pride.
This will be taken as an endorsement of the green agenda, I suspect.
Indeed, he may be the last Pope.

Just like Protestant churches and their followers regarding homosexual marriage, not all Catholics will follow the Popes ideas with this particular issue. Weve had worse popes, and we will survive this one.
The release of the much-awaited climate message puts a trigger on a series of events that were more than a year in the planning.
I think you FR Catholics are slow to get it...'They' are the Catholic religion, not you guys...You've been telling us how 'rogue' this pope is...He's not rogue at all...He is what the Catholic religion chose as its leader they they are as happy as could be that your pope thinks the same way they do...

The problem with that is that if they admit that what the pope and the hierarchy is is real Catholicism, it puts those who oppose it and are calling for a return of the RCC to its roots, in the category of the Reformers some 500 years ago.
They may not be that slow to get it as reluctant (or unwilling) to admit it, as it would then justify OUR position. IOW, they'd have to admit that the Reformation was correct.

If they are, who are we to judge (as Francis says)?
I was glad to see some of the victims of the communists declared martyrs over the past few years (by Benedict XVI); a reminder of the dangers of communism and its “gateway drug”, socialism.

You need to correct that to state liberal Catholics - not all Catholics. Oh no!
Catholics are one in mind and body; else they'd be; SPIT!; Protestants!

Weve had worse popes, and we will survive this one.Yup; and collectively (nice word!) they created PROTESTANTism.
Pope Stephen VI (896897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]
Pope John XII (955964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.
Pope Benedict IX (10321044, 1045, 10471048), who "sold" the Papacy
Pope Boniface VIII (12941303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy
Pope Urban VI (13781389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]
Pope Alexander VI (14921503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]
Pope Leo X (15131521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]
Pope Clement VII (15231534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.
