Malkin: Why America Hates the GOP-Obamatrade Deal
Creators Syndicate ^ | June 12, 2015 | Michelle Malkin

Constitutional conservatives don't like it. Trade unions abhor it. Obama critics hate it. Environmentalists despise it.

Outside the Beltway bubble, a broad coalition of voters from the left, right and center opposes the mega-trade deal getting rammed through Congress this week by the Republican establishment on behalf of the White House. Here's why.

The Obama administration, House GOP leader John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have sold out American sovereignty. Their so-called Trans-Pacific Partnership Commission will have sweeping authority over trade, immigration, environmental, labor and commerce regulations.

As alert watchdogs U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest and U.S. Rep Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., warn: "By adopting fast-track, Congress would be formally authorizing the President to finalize the creation of this Pacific Union and will have surrendered its legislative prerogatives. Before a word, line, paragraph, or page of this plan is made public, Congress will have agreed to give up its treaty powers. ... In effect, one of the most sweeping international agreements seen in years will be given less legislative scrutiny and process than a Post Office reform bill."

The Obama administration, House GOP leader John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have sold out legislative transparency. Boehner smugly asserts that so-called Trade Promotion Authority puts Congress in charge and promotes "more openness" on trade talks. Nonsense. Under the Boehner/Obama plan, Congress gives up its ability to amend any trade deals under fast track, severely limits the ability to debate and lowers the vote threshold in the Senate from 61 to 51. The 11 international parties negotiating with Obama on TPP refuse to sign their dotted lines until Congress agrees to pre-agree to behemoth global trade pacts — sight unseen.

Nows what?

Its been my observation that the first thing you should do when you find yourself face down at the botttom of a hole is to stop digging. In this case stopping digging would mean at the least mean refraining from voting for the two sets of kleptocrats presented to us in a rigged electoral system.

He may be the best, but I’m really disappointed in his vote. You know that Maobama is up to no good.

Off topic, but,,, about 10/12 years ago I was having lunch at Li Wah. I looked over to the next table, and there was this astonishing woman eating with her kids. I asked Donna, who owns the restaurant if that was Michelle. She affirmed my suspicion. Lovely woman, very petite! If she had been single, I would have been chasing her around the parking lot! 8^)

Yes, it goes without saying that Boehner and McConnell are traitors. We’ve known that for quite a while.

So, now we know that Walker is a dimbulb supporting something he couldn’t possibly understand, being that it is a secret law.

And so everyone asks, and what about Cruz? Why does he get a pass?

And the answer is, if he votes for a secret bill that lets Obama make an end run around the law and the constitution, not to mention the citizens, then no. He doesn’t get a pass. He is as much on trial everyone else. He stands and falls on this bill as far as I’m concerned.

“Michelle has beauty inside and out.”

Abdo-lutely! She wasn’t made up or anything. Just having Dim Sum with her kids. A very beautiful, and yes, sexy, woman!

I’m fed up I may just support Carly at this point. Cruz completely lost me. The Cruz contingent is getting hammered on Twitter but no response.

fundamentally transforming America. How long before we are in camps. I doubt it will be the case with people here but I can envisage nephews and nieces and sons and daughters turning in their parents. it’s a spoiled lost generation. That’s what makes it so dangerous.

I was fortunate to meet her with Breitbart three weeks before he died at a conservative gathering. She is beautiful, a good speaker, and very smart.

Breitbart was not a good looking man, he was far older looking than his age, but he was simply brilliant, and spoke far better than she did.

I count the meeting as one of those few sparkling seconds of our fifteen minutes of fame.

You’re right - Boehner’s coming across like a traitor... Somethings wrong with him. It’s like he sold out to Obama...

The large majority of conservatives support free trade, they’re been trying to pass fast track for at least 20 years. Protectionism (ie supporting TAXES on imports) is the lib position and protectionist propaganda and fear mongering is tiresome. Cruz is in the right.

and reigned in Obama’s tyranny as they promised.

"Reined" means pulled on a horse's reins to slow it down. "Reigned" means ruled as a sovereign lord. So I think you hit it dead on.

Not one Republican voted for Obamacare, so what, exactly, are you talking about?

Re: “Not one Republican voted for Obamacare, so what, exactly, are you talking about?”

I can't speak for the original post by “Sir Napsalot.”

As far as I'm concerned, however, when the GOP voted overwhelmingly to fund ObamaCare, and when the GOP voted overwhelmingly to bail out any insurance company that lost money selling Obama-policies, that was exactly the same as voting “Yes” for ObamaCare.

Before the 2014 election, many Republicans openly campaigned for the repeal of ObamaCare.

After the election, many of the same Republicans voted to fund it.
