I am not normal.

This, I learned from a news story 35 years ago. The details have faded with the passage of time, but the gist of it remains clear. Some expert had crunched a bunch of numbers in search of the “average” human being, the planetary norm, and found that she was an 8-year-old Japanese girl, living in Tokyo. I don’t fit that profile; I’m willing to bet you don’t, either. So as a matter of statistical fact, I’m not “normal” and neither are you. I went to church with Bruce Jenner. I’ve always found that story a useful corrective whenever I am tempted to declaim too haughtily on what is or isn’t normal. I offer it now to Rush Limbaugh in the vain hope it will help him rethink his assault last week on the woman who used to be Bruce Jenner. Granted, the story was about planetary norms and Limbaugh was ranting about American social norms, but the principle still applies.

To conservatives, "male" means XY-chromosomes in the DNA. To us, an athlete competing as a woman but with XY genetics is cheating. An XY-genetics person looking for companionship wearing a dress is male - and a liar and a pervert - no matter how he feels about being male. "Male" often means more muscle mass, more upper-body strength, proportionately larger lungs, different hip structure, larger Adam's apple, and various other differences in anatomy, but it always means XY genetics. "Male" includes both masculine and sissy, and it is an immutable genetic fact.

To liberals, "male" has become yet another flexible word that means whatever they want it to mean at that moment. "Male" describes actions and feelings, so many of the most attractive girls I've known in real life and seen on TV/movies - tomboys - were what liberals would call "male". To them, my prom date was "male" most of the day, as we crawled through mud catching crawdads, and then she became female as she showered (I missed that transition, obviously), fixed her hair and nails for hours, and dressed up in a beautiful and feminine but practical dress. The next day, they would see her as "male" again as we went shooting.

I'm not sure whether liberals are crazy, like Humpty Dumpty, evil like Big Brother's enforcers in 1984, or both, but they are double plus ungood for our children. Only a fool allows leftists to have access to the innocent.

Jenner’s actions are not a matter of normal or not-normal. Call it what it is: SIN.

We Christians (probably Limbaugh included) recognize we are sinners and ask for mercy.

Jenner and the rest of the LGBT movement proclaim their sin as good, and teach others to sin also.

We can’t and don’t argue over what is “normal”. We can only pray for them, and for ourselves, because eternal souls are in the balance here.

To respond to Claire/Leonard’s ‘point’ that Rush Limbaugh is not “normal”, Rush would likely agree.

He calls company EXCELLENCE in broadcasting, not mediocrity in broadcasting. He worked in different trades before striking gold in talk radio.

If you want to look for “average” (being a young Japanese girl in Tokyo, I suppose based on population density of the world and age demographics) that is something else.

But if you sum up shared beliefs, shared life accomplishments, etc. then you might be more on track to what Rush was discussing. Being an Olympic medal winner is NOT normal, but it is not immoral or aberrant psychology.

The destruction of this country was rooted a great deal in the decay of the American family. Kids join gangs because gangs feel like family, and the gang leader seems like your “father” or “big brother” regardless of whether or not this is true. So the decay of the American family is very much associated with crime, and not surprisingly, gangs have decent success recruiting children who either have the abusive or absent parents, then the cycle tends to be perpetuated by the gang lifestyle, as the gangsters tend to have illegitimate children who they either are absent from, or separated from their children by prison. The single parent families largely account for a great deal of poverty and crime, and the cycle goes on. Nowadays though, the media and politicians try to pretend that the problem isn’t there, or try other ideas like gun control or hype stuff up like the Jenner business to say all is well in America.

How cis-gender sexist of you (that is the demeaning libspeak term used to challenge expectations that birth anatomy, present anatomy, sexual desire, and gender identity should ALL conform to some standard)?!!

So you can change none, some, or all of your anatomy (or even attire, you don't HAVE to fit the sexual stereotypes of wearing a dress or makeup to be OF THE MIND of being a woman).

And according to some advocates in California and elsewhere that chosen identity can even be fluid and you declare each day who you are and how you feel (Sybil can you hear me?). When courts rule that gyms MUST permit men to enter womens' dressing rooms and restrooms (if that is how they so feel), this is the wide open barn door they are refusing to acknowledge. You won't even need to appear before a doctor or judge and change your paperwork to establish that you are now and forever more "a woman". BUT if you want your driver's license or birth certificate to change then they advocate that as well (even if your genitalia is in conflict with your claim).

Ask Limbaugh, who now finds himself pushing against that wind and finding that the only “marginal behavior” here is his. That must be chilling to a man so obsessed with defining and defending “normalcy.” He should get used to it.
