does American Pharoah talk? i am guessing he will be on every late night talk show this week?
Another piece of America lost...
They kinda had to, otherwise the FCC might have fined NBC. Stupid, I know.
Thank you!
.....but, but, but.....SCIENCE said it couldn’t be done.
Oh, wait. SCIENCE supposedly tells us Global Warming is true.
I am smiling. Beautiful run, beautiful horse! Even in replay it was wonderful! History has been made!
A great race, but that frikkin’ Bob Costas yammering on and on. Someone put a gag on him. He tried to read a paragraph full of old worn out cliches in that broadcast.I’d have turned the sound down but my folks wanted to listen to it all.
IIRC Secretariat’s heart was about twice normal size. That may not be quite the same as an enlarged heart, which in humans is a distinct detriment.
As good as American Pharaoh’s win is it can’t begin to compare with the astounding Belmont race of Secretariat. Few things in sports ever will.
IF memory serves Sham was running at a world record pace right beside Secretariat in the back stretch, 10 lengths ahead of the rest. And that’s when Secretariat began to run faster.
He’s so far ahead when he crosses the wire the announcer can’t make an accurate guess. Something like 36 lengths. I still get chills watching that race.

Fine horse. Not as great as Secretariat, but he’s in the history books, and he deserves to be.
Yep.
American Pharaoh didn’t win that.
California Chrome’s owner has to be thinking “Doh!”
Yes, it was a beautiful race! Have a wonderful day!
We’re his horseshoes properly inflated?
“The flag is up”
What did one Gay Horse say to the other Gay Horse?
HaYYYYYYYYYYY
thats what i was wondering, maybe the other 24 horses were deflated on purpose to let American Pharo win.
Make that 31 lengths rather than 36.
“What if Neil Armstrong had said “holy $hit!” when he first set foot on the moon? Some awareness of your place in history is called for with a suitable amount of decorum.”
I would agree, but consider this:
I think the selection process for the first man to walk on the moon was a bit more strenuous than selecting a jockey.
Not to mention, Armstrong had been through a lot. He flew 73 combat mission in Korea. ONe of the missions he had some difficulty and flew so low he struck a 20 foot tall pole.
If anyone had cause to let out an expletive it was Armstrong after he landed on the moon with less than 30 seconds of fuel in his craft. However, it was because he was one not given to expletives that he kept his cool and was able to do what he did.
He also was a noteworthy test pilot.
Victor Espinoza has been racing horses since he was 15. He is from Hidalgo Mexico. There is no record of his education. Seemingly, all his life has been around horse.
Too his credit, he gives 10% of his winnings to City of Hope for pediatric cancer research. He also gives 39.6% of his income to the federal government and an additional 12.3% to the state of California. This leaves 38.1 percent for Victor.
Secretariat’s Belmont Stakes time (2:24:00) was about 2-3/5ths secs faster.
