Former President Jimmy Carter told AARP Bulletin during a recent interview that many Americans hold feelings of superiority toward minorities. Mr. Carter spoke on a range of subjects with the magazine, including campaign spending and lobbyists, but he made a point to say that the U.S. still is lacking in terms of safeguarding civil rights.
The recent publicity about mistreatment of black people in the judicial and police realm has been a reminder that the dreams of the civil rights movement have not been realized. [ ] Many Americans still have racist tendencies or feelings of superiority to people of color, Mr. Carter told AARP Bulletin, The Hill reported Thursday.
The former president added that the politics of the 1970s have changed in such a way that he would not get the level Republican support he enjoyed as the 39th president.
There was harmony among congressmen when I was there, and I got just as much support from Republicans as I did from Democrats. I cant imagine myself as a successful candidate today, Mr. Carter said, The Hill reported.

You're off by about 20 years. Carter resigned his Naval commission to run his father's peanut farm in 1953. He didn't enter politics until the early 60's, and didn't run for governor until the 70s.
“Carter resigned his Naval commission....”
The most patriotic thing he ever did for his country. That one act probably saved many future lives in Vietnam. American ones.
After considering Carter’s statement, I have to admit I do feel my traditional WASP culture is superior to modern black culture. It’s not a race thing, but I see very, very little in popular black culture that I would want to emulate.
I’m making generalizations of course. There are many blacks who I admire, and millions of blacks who are well educated, morally good, and law abiding citizens. However, popular black culture is absolute filth. If that makes me a racist, so be it.
Got that info from the Penthouse article (If You liked Richard Nixon, you’ll love Jimmy Carter) that that phony SOB Bob Guccione sat on UNTIL after the 1976 elections.
“”that the dreams of the civil rights movement have not been realized””
Does he live in a cave? What’s that thing sitting in our White House? Perhaps he’s thinking the Civil Rights Act applied to countries in Africa - THAT’S where they have real problems, Jimmy...
Americans love morons as presidents...
i.e. Carter, Wilson, Rooseveltx2, Johnson, Kennedy, two Bushs, Clinton, etc..
To me it would depend on how an individual holds to Judeo-Christian values. The only exceptions would be Deuteronomy 4:19 and Malachi 1:11.
At least the American voter of a generation ago knew they made a mistake in electing Jimmy in 1976, and corrected it by voting overwhelmingly for Ronald Reagan over him in 1980. I was a teenager in 1980, but I’ll always remember the look of utter devastation on Jimbo’s face when he conceded to Reagan so early on election night. The Carter campaign went nuclear nasty on Reagan implying he was dumb, a racist, and a person who said what was scripted for him by his handlers. I don’t like to see any person face humiliation and defeat in public, but I did enjoy watching Jimbo getting his lunch handed to him and having to eat crow that night. Watching lefties get trounced and humiliated is reason for celebration after all the crap they’ve done to this country.
Carter did not run for governor in the 50s
He’s a radical now no question but he was always liberal on race going back to peanut farmer days
Cause it didnt happen
We all get carried away
Myself included
Carter is the worst sort of southerner
A self hater like a bad Jew who despises what he is
We have enough yankees who detest us without helping them
Will this bag of wind not die already?
” I cant imagine myself as a successful candidate today, Mr. Carter opined.
Huh? Well Jim there’s another way of looking at it, of the worst US Presidents ever, you come in second best!
Jimmy Carter..... when is that old, sorry son-of-a-bitch gonna die?
Jimmah needs to go away.
Jimmy Carter is truly an anomaly. He is still completely oblivious to his misdeeds; that’s his legacy. I don’t think he was or is ever ‘deliberately’ evil like Obama, only demented & should be in a straight jacket.
He does?
I wish that rabbit would have taken him out.
