Looks like the Japanese killed a total of 25 million civilians in China (20) and Indonesia (5)?
You don’t hear much about the 5 million civilians killed in Indonesia...
“Finally, how disheartening and infuriating that 83% of all deaths were Allied, versus just 17% Axis.”
IIRC most of the WWII casualties on the chart in Europe resulted from Hitler attacking Stalin before the US got into the war...right when Hitler was on the verge of invading England!
The US and UK had to bail out Stalin as an “Ally” and it was touch and go as to whether England would survive the German Submarine blockade right into 1943!
In China, I suspect that Japanese butchering Chinese from 1937 on until to end of the war added up to a lot of bodies given the dithering the General Chiang and having to fight the Commies under Mao at the same time!
Yes, and vice-versa, with neither of them in the least averse to shedding the blood of millions of innocents--indeed, they reveled in it. If you hold the power of life and death over millions, and can impose death on them with seeming impunity, then by golly you're pretty darned important, aren't you? A god among gods.
Japanese butchering Chinese from 1937 on
Yep.
Hitler and Stalin played a game of poker with each other, with the bodies of their soldiers piled high as chips on the table.
Stalin was the better poker player.
Stalin also brought more chips to the game, and he was only playing one game at-a-time.
Note that by far, Poland had the highest percentage of her population killed by the war.
Most significant is the expansion of the Social Security Program.
I think the targeted liquidation of something like 3 million Polish Jews jacked up that particular number...
And the Soviets targeted Poles.
“Henry a Wallace, who by the intervention of divine Providence was dumped in the Democrat convention of 1940 from his office of Vice President of the United States.”
While not disagreeing with you, I need to correct the record. Henry Wallace was Vice President from 1941 to 1945. It was the 1944 convention that pushed him out, not 1940.
Yes, but only selectively, IIRC, limited to anyone who could resist their one-party Commie rule after the war!
Soviets ethnically cleansed Poles from the areas of Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine where Poles had lived for centuries.
I hear you!
I read recently that most civilians who died in Indonesia and India died of starvation.
Sorry for the delay...
Several sites post summaries of estimates of war and genocide deaths, that particular chart, and this one came from Wiki.
Thanks! Best chart I have seen so far of this data...
Thanks. What a catastrophe.
