James Taylor thinks Obama is greatest President of all-time

Barack Obama supporter James Taylor doesn't just think the U.S. president is great — he believes Obama is the greatest of all-time.

"I've been watching politics since (Dwight) Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and Obama is my favorite, favorite president," Taylor said in an interview Wednesday. "I am just thankful for every day that he's in office. I am so proud that he represents my country and I think he represents me — I think he represents the America that I know."

Taylor, 67, is a recipient of the National Medal of Arts. The pop icon performed "America the Beautiful" at Obama's second inauguration in 2013.

"I had a really tough time during the Cheney-Bush years, I did, and I had a hard time accepting that that administration represented me because I don't think they did," Taylor said.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also called Obama's family "precious" and said he appreciates the U.S. leader because he's "sane" and "balanced."

"He promised to give us a health care system, it's a work in progress, but he has put us on a road to that," Taylor said. "I'm so grateful for what he's done for gay rights and for the emancipation of gay people. Particularly from my point of view, I think that was so overdue and so important, and so important for America to be ahead of the curve on this."

Taylor criticized Congress in Obama's defense.

"I've never seen a Congress that has been so obstructive and so contrary and so committed to doing anything that will foul up this administration. I just think it's an absolute scandal that he has had so little cooperation," he said.

golden oldies

But even in this great category, a lot of them, particularly in black doo wop and soul, support(ed) the dems.

His stuff ain’t that bad. Some of it is actually pretty good, IMO.

Obviously, a matter of opinion. He's not on my "immediately switch the channel" list when his stuff comes on the oldies stations but he's only in the next tier up.

If we gave up listening to music by people with idiotic political views, we would eliminate something like 60-70% of the best music of the past 50 years. Libs and lefties dominate the entertainment industry, unfortunately.

I agree but there are many in that group vastly more talented than James Taylor. I never let a singer's politics stand in the way of enjoying their work - I just don't care for James Taylor's music and I wouldn't like it if he were a rabid Reagan Republican.

If he has any family, it is intervention time. He is clearly a danger to his own health.

Thanks. I still like the fake video better, but always want to know the truth.

I wouldn’t mind having a president who happened to be black. Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, and others come to mind. However, my ranking of any president would have nothing to do with their skin color, hair color, eye color, or any other cosmetic detail. It disgusts me when people rank a shockingly incompetent occupant of our White House based on something as trivial as melanin.

Too many drugs. Too much puff-puff weed.

He would have done just fine if he had kept his mouth shut and not told the whole world he was in love with Hussein. Nobody would have known the difference. Now he has opened his liberal pie-hole and left not doubt that he is the biggest fool around.

I didn’t think he was James Brown (may he rest in peace), but I did think James Taylor was black. James Taylor appears to be a self loathing white liberal who blames his own race for all the evil in the world. These same folks are thrilled by the idea of destroying all vestiges of the perceived white Anglo-Saxon “oppressor” class.

I think it’s also true that there’s no shortage of people these days who think they aren’t properly represented unless the representative is the right sex and/or skin color.

Not a big fan of his music either, but it’s not bad. I had to go listen to some of it to realize who he is.

He did one song that I really liked, “Mexico”. But these days even that song doesn’t bring pleasant connotations to me. Mexico’s not what it used to be in my stereotyped thoughts (and I’ve been there, away from the “touristy” parts, in a village practically owned by one man).

What many black people do not understand is that there are "racial" tensions between whites. James Taylor is typical of the snobbish type of Anglo-Saxon New Englander, who despises and looks down upon the Celtic ScotsIrish white southerners, and constantly tries to feel superior by calling southerners racists, even though the northerners were the ones that hung "No Irish Need Apply" signs in store windows advertising jobs. The English and Dutch early settlers in New England and New York warring upon the Irish immigrants of the 1800s is the theme of the movie "Gangs of New York", based on real events.

With some exceptions, the oppressor class of slave-holding whites before the Civil War were largely English Anglo-Saxons, especially in Virginia; whereas the southern poor whites and hardscrabble farmers were Scots-Irish Celts. Facts on the ground these days are that southerners often get along socially with blacks far more readily than northerners.

Stevenson last ran for President in 1956. That would make you 8 years old at the time. Yeah. Sure.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also called Obama's family "precious"

Awwwww. How sweet. (gag)
