Hey, our world is moving all the time, its rotates once every 24 hours. These are just places that don’t want to comply! The faults are just stopping their rotational movement for a second or two. That’s all.

In another thousand years, the same plate tectonics that are throwing Japan a 6.8 will have put LA and San Francisco right next to each other. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

The whole Pacific Rim is volcanically- and seismically-active, because that’s where several tectonic plates meet.

These risks are well known, but people continue to live there anyway.

We have our earthquakes, while others have their tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms, hailstorms, etc.

Someone once tried to find the safest place in the US based on least likely to be engulfed in a natural or man-made disaster and it was some backwater town in the Florida panhandle.

I'll take my chances here.
