Jihadis’ demand for self-censorship would spell the end of free expression
Washington Times ^ | May 11, 2015 | Tammy Bruce

-excerpt-

Richard Fowler, a liberal radio talk show host, insisted that the cartoon contest was like “going into a theater and yelling out fire. … Freedom of speech comes with limits. This is a clear limit.” Furthermore, Mr. Fowler assured us, “If they never had that event, the jihadis would have never shown up.”

Really? So, we should tell battered women that they should just learn to make the sandwich perfectly, so as to not incite a beating?

-excerpt-

As a reminder, you can yell fire in a crowded theater — when there’s a fire. Arguably, the culpability comes when there is a fire and you say nothing, condemning untold numbers of people to injury or death.

-excerpt-

By their reckoning, terrorists live normal lives only to find themselves suddenly provoked into terrorism because they’re distraught by acts of infidels. You see, if the infidel would only shut up and do as they say, none of this would have to happen.

The truth is, rather, jihadis lie in wait. They create pretexts. They act on excuses. If we banned cartoons of Muhammad, another excuse for attack would be found. Would it be Jews being obviously Jewish in public?

-excerpt-

the Yazidis under siege in Iraq have never drawn Muhammad, but they were Christians. Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot in the head on her school bus, never drew Muhammad, but she wanted to become educated. The Boston bombing victims never drew Muhammad, but they were Americans. ... The Egyptian Coptic Christians beheaded by the Islamic State never drew Muhammad ...

Not when everyone knows exactly what's going on. Crowded theaters had no problems when this made the rounds:

Anyone know the percent of time Bernie voted with 0bama?

I’d guess it would be pretty close to 100%.

Seems to me like that would be enlightening to those who choose to see.

I don’t understand this B.S. About a character no one has ever seen.I don’t think your average Muslim has ever seen a picture of Muhammad. So why do these Islamo-Nazi’s have a coronary when someone draws a picture purported to be Muhammad?

Just draw a picture of Micky Mouse and claim he’s Muhammad. You’ll get the same result.

You can never satisfy these animals. So why should we try?

Liberals think that they are being brave when they walk on the flag or have a “gay pride” parade or put a crucifix in a jar of urine when they KNOW nothing will happen to them. When it comes to showing true bravery, they cower and snipe at the heroes.

As a side issue, it’s interesting to see how little Islamist understand the western world.

If they had said, “please don’t draw pictures of Mohammed, it’s considered very rude to our religion,” there would be few, if any, such pictures drawn.

Maybe a polite note to a couple of editors.

And that would be it.

Now, they end up with billboards and internet memes.

Jihadists want to make war. Their intent is to advance into western civilization the same way they did in the middle ages.

And self censorship is a slippery slope that leads to oppression.

Where are those cartoons now! Bugs Bunny was made a MARINE! Bugs is the second mascot the Marines have after their beloved bulldog. He has discharge papers.

My God how we have changed.

On the day they hanged Tojo as a war criminal, someone observed “there’s a little nip in the air this morning”.

We need to prove to the muzzies what the Japs already knew, that if America is invaded there will be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Or....a pistol on the person of every CCW holder. In my opinion if the Garland jihadis had somehow shot their way into the building, they wouldn’t have lasted long, and for that very reason.

And our muzzie and chief is trying to change that! I agree with you. Thank God for that 2nd amendment.

But where is the anger saying screw the drawings this lady helped smoke out two terrorists and proved they are here among us and everyone is missing that point. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

The cartoons now days are just very low skilled stick art with characters that blow snot or some other bodily function and are stupid. Anybody with a computer can be an artist I guess.

I pointed out that Bugs was smart not like all the characters today.
The art is getting more bizarre.
WB cartoons can never capture that era again.
