A bill working its way through the Alabama Legislature would allow probate judges and ministers to refuse to marry same-sex couples on religious grounds.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday heard passionate testimony about the bill that the sponsor says came about after a brief period of legalized gay marriage in Alabama.

Proponents say the bill would protect religious beliefs, but opponents say it opens the door to broader discrimination of same-sex couples and other groups.

Unbelievable that such a bill would be seen as a necessity. But observe the reaction of the sodomite brownshirts: opponents say it opens the door to broader discrimination of same-sex couples and other groups.

May God judge this country swiftly and while protecting or removing the "10 righteous men" from that impact...

I doubt Catholics would be treated any differently than Protestants ... not should they be treated differently. The next battle will be for the feds to start forcing churches to marry gays or be denied tax breaks

I don’t think too many gay couples will venture into a Mosque to be married.

Wouldn’t it be fun, though, to watch them try to?

It would indeed. I think I would try to convince them not to attempt to be married in a Mosque.

Would Catholic Priests be required to marry a gay couple.

Back when "gay marriage" was approved in NY State in 2011, an editorial was published in Time: The Bittersweet Victory: Why Gay Marriage Still Isn't Marriage. Buried in that article was the following paragraph:

Marriage without a church or temple wedding isn't the real thing. Why can some people have all the bells and whistles in the church of their choice but not me? Of course, there have been and will be congregations and churches that allow gay men and lesbians to be married in their midst and to bless those unions, recognizing that God loves them just as much as Governor Andrew Cuomo does. But some rich and influential religious institutions [NB: read this as the Catholic Church] are not only free to continue to reject gay men and women as equal beneficiaries of all aspects of faith but will now also rally their congregants to reject politicians who are willing to abide with this extension of secular civil rights — no matter how much acceptance there is of same-sex marriage elsewhere, no matter how many wedding announcements appear in the New York Times.

Consider this recent quote from the Hildabeast on abortion:

"Yes, we've cut the maternal mortality rate in half, but far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don't count for much if they're not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed,"

Do you think she'd be any different on "gay marriage"?

With the above, you should be able to answer your own question: Would Catholic Priests be required to marry a gay couple?

No minister of Christ will ever do a queer “Marriage”. Marriage is between a man and woman — not a man and a donkey or a man and another queer man or a pervert woman and another sick woman. You will see liars like queer “Churches “ do it which is blasphemy.

Sure the pastors can refuse, and even receive state protection, but the Feds will try to take away their tax exempt status and destroy them by taxing their income and properties.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that the Catholic Church claims its tax exempt status as a free church without incorporating as a 5013c organization. However, most Protestant churches do not claim free church status.

Mass civil disobedience appears to be the most viable solution.

Divorced people do not have vocal bullies who can wield the blunt instrument of the media against their opposition.

I think the step after that will be imprisonment. There was a mayor, I forget where, recently, who wanted to subpoena the SERMONS of ministers or priests, forget which ones. She backed down after backlash, but how about next time?
especially when a poll said the younger generation would rather have a gay president than an Evangelical one. We are in trouble. Must somehow win back the hearts and minds of the young. But the media/entertainment industry is a tough opponent

Given your excellent post, I think it is clear: at some point Catholic priests will be required to marry gay couples. I doubt Muslim Imans will be required to do so.
A blanket exception will be made for them.

Only liberals get freedom of conscience. Conservatives must bow to the demands of liberals, ignore their own conscience and violate the laws of God. They exist only to make money that the liberals can confiscate to fund their own pet causes and programs that essentially benefit — wait for it — LIBERALS!

They don’t need a law made by men to protect them for doing God’s work.

The “younger generation” goes for any fad because they are empty headed and the “older generation” isn’t real good at explaining why the fad is wrong.

I know what that’s like, I was gaga for Jimmy Carter in his day.
