But some journalists are expressing skepticism, wondering how a person who has never been to Iraq, can be a member of Isis. The answer is simple - Internet recruitment.
Many Muslims from Europe have left the continent, to go and fight for Isis in Iraq. These Muslims did not become Isis members when they reached Iraqi territory, but were already Isis members before making their travel plans to Iraq. It is possible that some American Muslims may have been recruited in a similar manner.
It is not necessary for an Isis fighter to travel from Iraq to America for him to be an official Isis terrorist. If an American Muslim swears his allegiance to Isis on the internet, he is as much of an Isis fighter, as an experienced fighter who travels from Iraq to America to wage jihad.
The question we have to ask is - how many have been recruited? Thousands? Tens of thousands? You can make your best guess.

I agree, this was sudden jihad syndrome egged on by internet propaganda and likely their local mosque. I was just reading that Boko Haram, ISIS competition has a very low tech, very effective method where they send in a suicide bomber with either a vest or vehicle to create and initial blast then send en fire teams to gun down the wounded and disoriented.
That type of attack would be effective on any non-fortified target in the US. With the news of ISIS camps in Mexico I fear the first coordinated strike on our soil won’t turn out as well as Garland.
Does it matter if it’s islamic state or some other subhuman reptile brain organization?
I do believe ISIS or some other muzzie scumbag group will try to commit an act on our soil....no doubt.
I ask myseff from time to time....seff, if ISIS were here or in Messy-co, would they not have munitions greater than an AK? We witness time and again IED’s, big bang devices in automobiles/trucks that level entire blocks over in the armpit of the world known as the middle east.
I pray they don’t get this sort of stuff smuggled into our country, but it’s been approx. 15years since 911 and what we’ve primarily seen is lone wolf style cowardly acts. Small arms...oh and an underwear bomber.
Don't have to be trained or "battle experienced" to be a part of anything like ISIS, just have to go do it and become the martyr while letting someone know in advance via the internet. Somebody in the IC (Intelligence Community -- don't laugh!) somewhere has apparently linked these guys to actual ISIS chain of command overseas. That's enough. Heck even the first part of what I said is "enough."
But while they might be insane and rage filled which can make them commit mistakes (hopefully leading to their premature demise), most of them are not stupid in the cunning sense of the word. As wolves they know enough to try and survive until the mission is completed. Therefore the fact that one guy with a handgun easily capped their two guys who were wearing body armor and armed with rifles (I won't say assault weapons becaue it has not been established as to whether or not these were select fire and thus a true example). This means a pair of head shots under pressure and probably further away than the range of most street muggings.
Is it just me or does it seem that the only folks wringing their hands and getting their panties all in a twist about this are the folks who live in gun control nirvanas. The folks in Texas just shrugged and reloaded. Tango Down! Twice. Next?
While *that* particular medium can be said to be 'interesting', the best medium for depicting the future of islamism is chalk on concrete, first used in Garland Texas circa 2015...
