In Garland, We Got Lucky
National Review Online ^ | 5/4/2015 | Kevin Williamson

Of course he was a convict.

Elton Simpson was the first figure identified in the latest eruption from the Religion of Peace™ — an attempted massacre at an exhibition of anti-Islamist cartoons in suburban Garland, Texas, which ended in the shooting of Simpson and his coconspirator, because Texas is where terrorists go to get out-gunned at an art show. Simpson and his pal are as dead as a tuna casserole — in Texas, we shoot back.

We got lucky when luck wasn’t what we needed.

Simpson was, like the overwhelming majority of murderers and most of those who commit serious violent crimes, already known to the authorities. He had been investigated by the FBI on the suspicion that he was attempting to travel to Somalia to engage in jihad. He was convicted of lying to the FBI in that episode, and sentenced to . . . probation. The average sentence for a tax-related crime in these United States is 31 months in a federal penitentiary, but for attempting to join up with a gang of savages who are merrily beheading, torturing, enslaving, and raping their way around the world? Probation, and damned little subsequent oversight, apparently.

Well, I’m not familiar with that phrase, but it makes sense and you may be exactly right. It may be the correct saying.

Pamela Geller set the trap, Islam took the bait.

“Lucky” had nothing to do with it.
The gov’t basically told them they’re on their own,
so they hired extra security,

which took out the terrorists before they could hurt more than one person.

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail.
Mind! I don't mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country's done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

Somebody correct me, but I understand from what little I’ve seen/read on this that the “lucky” part of this was the foresight of the organizers of the event to ensure adequate security and enough personnel to assure the precautions.

Again, to my understanding, it is this posture and local response that kept these two rabid Muslims from killing anyone but themselves. I’d also like to make a comment that it wasn’t the FBI, DHS, ATF or the like ON THE GROUND AT THE SCENE when it went down.

I’m guessing we’ll subsequently hear bleats and glom-ons from DHS or whoever about “we were alerted to......had eyes on......blah, blah, blah...”, but don’t believe it. Local boots on the ground.....

If I’m wrong about it, please tell me so I can revise and extend and redact (or erase/delete) my remarks like Hillary always seems to be able to do.

OK, first we’re going to have to set up an email server in your home, where you have complete control.

Well....like Hillary, I only need SAY I did all that crap. Just say “forget what you didn’t/don’t like - it doesn’t exist anymore....trust me”.....like that. To convince you, I’ll create some FR surrogate accounts here to stand in my defense and parrot the new line. :0)

I think I got it down pat now. I’m almost as old and decrepit as the HillDog....I think I’ve learned how to imitate her with the lying, cheating and dissembling.....I just don’t have the SS detail that can keep the US Marshalls from arresting me (that’s a problem). But with a little help from my corrupt and evil Democrat friends in high places, I could compete.....do a good job....It’s the Democrat way. :0)

Well, you could create an “autobiography” like “Hard Choices” and work on a cackle. Oh, and you’ll have to leave four Americans to die in Benghazi to islamic terrorists.

I had to look. He’s black.

Kristina Sitton, who represented Simpson in the 2010 trial, said her former client had been on a no-fly list and that the FBI had attempted to get Simpson to cooperate with them, even after his conviction. She saw him, she said, as “harmless.”

“He grew up the most normal guy. Just a normal high school guy... Converting to Islam seemed like a good thing for him. He had been going down a bad path and then he found Islam,” Sitton told ABC News. “He never struck me as someone who would do this sort of thing. I’m not a bleeding heart, I’m a Republican. I’ve seen some pretty bad guys and he seemed pretty normal.”

Yeah...I guess I could get somebody to ghost write one for me.

But look at the positives! I can drink like a sot if I need to. I’m unfortunate looking (my old auntie’s description for ugly). I certainly can lie. I’ve done some things I’m not proud of for sure and wouldn’t mind being able to brush all that away with a “here we go again with the VRWC”.....Most all of those things.

But I wouldn’t ever leave anyone behind, let alone desert them in first place. I guess that’s my big weakness. That’s the killer to my grand plan. Oh well.

And then there’s the pantsuits.

No luck. The dudes were too stupid to realize that this was Texas and Texans were waiting for them to try something.
