Iranian Warships Arrive Near Yemen Comes just days after U.S. announced it would send its own warships A fleet of Iranian warships arrived near the southern coast of Yemen on Wednesday in a move likely to add greater tension in a developing U.S.-Iranian standoff in the region, according Iranian military leaders.
Just days after the United States announced it would send its own warships to Yemen in order to prevent Iran from smuggling weapons to terror forces fighting there, a flotilla of Iranian destroyers docked in the same area.
Iran’s military moves are likely to increase tensions between the two countries as each seeks to bolster opposing sides in the fight currently unfolding in Yemen.
An Iranian fleet including a destroyer warship and a helicopter-carrying warship arrived in the waters off the southern tip of Yemen on Wednesday, according to Iranian state-controlled media.
The warships will “protect [Iran’s] cargo ships and oil tankers against pirates,” according to Iran’s Fars News Agency.
The United States and other countries fear Iran is using these cargo ships to deliver weapons and other deadly hardware to opposition forces in Yemen.
The Iranian warships will remain in the area for at least three months, according to Fars.
Iranian military officials have been defiant about the country’s presence in the region, vowing to remain there despite pressure from other countries.
“This presence [of Iranian warships] continues in the free waters, including the Gulf of Aden, to fight against piracy according to the plan which was drawn at the request of the International Maritime Organization and no one can warn the Iranian warships (to move away) and this has not happened yet,” Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was quoted as saying in the Iranian press over the weekend.

If you sent your flag to Yemen, you’re testing the waters.
Iran is testing the U. S. If we don’t do anything, Iran gets the message that it can do what it wants on the high seas.
Other nations watch, and they come to the same conclusion.
Pretty soon you have number of nations doing things that are internationally anti-social, and the U. S. sits around with it’s thumb up it’s... well never-mind.
This is not a good precedent. It’s Iran dictating foreign policy to another nation.

Americans need to learn to be very very cynical of events as reported by the establishment politicians and media...regardless of Party. They make Soviet Pravda of 40 years ago look like Disney. Average Americans and our freedoms and our Treasury have become a disposable commodity as illustrated by our trillions in debt, much of it defending others.
We do not have a clue as to what country and what motives are out there to intentionally create anarchy in the Middle East, except that somehow the USA always pays and USA servicemen always die.
I wouldn’t like to see it because of the major global economic impact, but if the entire ME turned to molten glass I wouldn’t lose much sleep. I even might sleep better. But the sleep I’d lose might be because they’d want to take the rest of us down with them.
So the timing appears to be US carrier group arrives. The Saud’s stop air war. Iranian ships dock. Saud’s restart air war. We must have placed a temporary no fly zone over Yemen to allow safe passage for Persians. Obama did say they were there to protect shipping.
By the way our politicians have always talked a good game of protecting our servicemen, when we know most of them play politics first instead of actually protecting our servicemen. The pols sit in their plush offices scheming on how to create public opinion and blame it on others. I was reading a book about the Lusitania and how some claim but can’t prove Churchill used its sinking and loss of innocent civilians to deliberately involve us in WW1. I’ve lost trust in those who should be most trustworthy.

I assume our pirate is there to back down Egypt and the Saudis from intercepting and inspecting Iran's cargo ships. What if they try? I don't know how their naval assets on site stack up against an Iranian destroyer, but I suspect they can deal with the situation from the air in any circumstance. And Egypts navy is the largest in the region, including several subs, but don't know what they sent. I suspect the Saudi/Egyptian, UAE forces could handle it. If we aren't preempting their inspections, why are we there. Do we want the rebels rearmed?

A few days ago, I would have suggested running a drug test on you if you had posted this last week or over the weekend.
Now, the hairs on my arms and on the back of my neck are standing up. That is an ancient inheritance of warning, beware, something isn’t right.

The community organizer has no strategy.
You’ve got four parties, Iran, Saudis, Egypt, UAE, in a hot conflict, Iran by proxy. An explosive mix, the kind that triggers larger conflicts. Unless we’re there to definitively engage in inspections, I don’t know what we’re doing. Other than throwing gasoline on the mix. An mistake prone environment, how wars start.
