Hunger Games’ actress Amandla Stenberg is upset with Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and other celebrities for their (mis)appropriation of black culture. Click inside to WATCH.

Amandla Stenberg, 16, recorded a video for her friends, classmates, and the world that sends a powerful message about how black culture has gone mainstream without actually being accepted by others. In the video, she calls out Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry for being white musicians who adopting parts of black culture to be “edgy” and “gain attention.”

Amandla Stenberg Slams Miley Cyrus For Using Black Women As ‘Props’

You might remember Amandla from her role as fan-favorite Rue in The Hunger Games film, but now you’ll remember her for the powerful message she put on social media. In short, her 4-minute long video sets the record straight about where so many trends abused by society originated from: black culture.

“Pop stars and icons adopted black culture as a way of being edgy and gaining attention,” Amandla states, before calling out Miley. “In 2013, Miley Cyrus twerks and uses black women as props,” Amandla said, blasting the singer for her “We Can’t Stop” music video. Then, Amandla goes on to list all the ways Katy, Taylor, and others have relied on black culture in their careers. Do you agree with Amandla's message? Yes, totally. No, not at all. VoteView ResultsPolldaddy.com

“Katy Perry uses ebonics, hand gestures, eats watermelons, while wearing cornrows before cutting, inexplicably, to a picture of Aretha Franklin,” Amandla says, referring to Katy’s “This Is How We Do” video. Yikes. Amandla: Azealia Banks Sends The Right Message

As the video continues, Amandla praises controversial rapper Azealia Banks for calling out other celebrities and artists who adopted “blackness” for not voicing their support during the Black Lives Matter movement inspired by the recent police brutality. The video then cuts to Azealia Banks doing an interview in which she calls the adoption of her culture without the support against racism a “cultural smudging.”

Amandla then continues, “Appropriation occurs when a style leads to racist generalizations or stereotypes where it originated, but is deemed as high fashion, cool, or funny when the privileged take it for themselves.”

... but it’s ok for blacks to use white culture (technology, science, architecture, ... )

I’m fighting absurdity with absurdity.

No more black backup singers. Gotcha.

Will that end the racist calls? Hell no.

Its time to build that giant rocket to the sun and put all the politicians, bureaucrats, lawyers, liberals, commies and race baiters on it.

Why isn’t she complaining about the black artists that are hired and “going along for the ride?”

Why don’t the black “props” simply boycott these horrible white artists and protect their hold on this valuable culture?

This isn’t the stupidest thing I’ve heard from a progressive, but it’s up there.

I am more upset that these 3 are not very talented except as strippers and lip syncers and are promoted and promoted. View the comments of music at youtube from the “old” days and most are about the lousy music we have today.

Maybe blacks will start complaining that they aren’t represented enough as criminals in those Home Security commercials, they’re always white.

She does have a point, it always bothers me seeing these lily white celebs who in real life want nothing to do with the ghetto trash getting all ghettoed up in their videos.

Still not racist - being "ghettoed up" is an attitude and not a culture - no matter what the author and others try to sell. It is a detrimental and destructive attitude to boot.

Why is Stenberg mad at Milly Cyrus et. al. ? President Obama uses black women for props, and his prop in chief is Michelle Obama, followed closely by Susan Rice and Valerie Jarret.

So if performers emulate “President”Obama, where is the beef?
Its en vogue.
