why is Paul running in a republican primary, do the liberal-tarians not have their own primaries?

I might have liked Mr. Paul but he seems to have done too much adjusting and explaining. It is far better to maintain than to trim, even positions you deem to be unpopular. Trimming as a candidate foretokens unreliability in office.

If Cruz can avoid attacking other Republicans, even Bush;
if he can avoid denying charges and smears;
if he can avoid apologizing for anything at all or "explaining;"
if he can maintain a sense of humor;
if he can refrain from speaking rapidly;
he might just be the man.

I’m sure Megyn Kelly will have Cruz on tonight as the major commentator on Paul’s getting into the race. /sarc

I’m wondering if he will become the GOPe fallback if JeBush flames out.

Slug out the conservative / libertarian contenders first because when the primaries come around we will want one or two strong conervatives vs. a bunch of disorganized weak RINOs...

Now would be a good time to donate to the Ted Cruz campaign. Let’s raise more campaign dollars this week than the Rand Paul campaign.

Hopefully, like most of us, hope more enter the race. Each should listen to each other and take the best ideas of attacking the communists Democrats. Hillary must be destroyed and the idea that King Obama, through civil disorder, will get a third term must fail. When the final candidate, selected by the Republican voters, we get totally behind regardless of some of the platform a few ideas might not be perfect. No matter what we have to get the Presidency or America is finished.
To: arthurus
Cruz can disagree, even vehemently, without demonizing or getting ad hominem.
That is a rarer and rarer trait today.

Rand Paul's supporters will be fiercely loyal. The most important thing is to welcome him, and them... and help them transition to Cruz (or Walker) when it is time for Rand to bow out of the race (which his father always did FAR too late).
Most libertarians are fully on board with lower taxes, smaller government, less bureaucracy, etc. There IS room for them in this tent!!!

Agree, Ted is a conservative, a true conservative. He will not back down nor will he keep reaching out like Bush or say anything he can to get elected like Paul
