An oversized tractor-trailer hit a beam of an overpass under construction on Interstate 35 in Salado, causing several beams to fall onto the roadway, according to Texas Department of Transportation officials.
One person was killed and three others were taken to Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple with injuries that were not life threatening, Bell County authorities said.

I thought this would have been posted but didn't see it. Happened around noon. Both sides of I-35 are still closed and will be for a while. Traffic has to take alternative routes. FYI, this is a major hwy between the TX/Mexico border to OK and points North. It'll be backed up forever north of Austin and south of Waco.

One person is dead and several others are injured after a partial bridge collapse in Bell County. Texas Department of Public Safety officials say an oversize truck crashed into the support beam of the FM 2484 overpass on Thursday morning, causing beams on the bridge to collapse.
Authorities say there are two tractor trailers and two passenger cars that are under the wreckage.

Terrible. Prayers up. I-35 is not my favorite interstate to travel on.
Detour looks simple. It’s a a rural exit, simply off ramp and on ramp back on, for both directions.
The bridge under construction was a little more 14 feet high. They had warning signs for miles and miles warning of a low bridge.
But to no avail.
Geez! Even on a good day it takes hours to get from Austin to Waco. This will set traffic back to a day or so.
Same road as that bridge collapse in Minneapolis a while back...

I hate coming across a sign which just says take state road sonso instead and no way to find it..
you follow another car to find that he was just going to his local home and miles off the route...
Assuming that the I-Beams were at 14’-4” or higher, and you can assume they were since I bet literally hundreds of other semi-trucks passed beneath them without crashing into them. I’m betting this is the work of a fatally moronic truck driver who loaded up a piece of equipment on the flat bed in the picture and didn’t quite notice that it resembled a giraffe. And of course to boot, it looks like he was in the fast lane too.
Someones insurance company is going to be displeased. Prayers for the victims. I would be shocked if an illegal is driving an oversize load, but if so the company should be charged with manslaughter.
But did they have it in the language the driver could read, if any.
