Britain could be linked with America by road as part of an ambitious project to create the world's longest superhighway spanning half the circumference of the globe.
Proposals have been put forward to build the mega route stretching about 12,400 miles from the western edge of Russia to the Bering Strait where the country nudges Alaska.

No problem.
Progress would be DISCONNECTING the continents, not opening up more connections.
What brand of car is that?................Didn’t even have an airbag or seat belt shoulder harness and he walked away!................
That would be cool.
South America to Alaska
No problem.
That’s what I thought, but when I tried to map it, well there seems to be a few areas where there are no roads.
So true. They can’t even get a bridge across bay from Anch to MatSu Valley due to weather conditions. DReamers.
Lada Riva, by the looks of it.
No problem.
Jesus comes back to earth and finds a young man strolling on the beach just sad.
Jesus identifies himself and asks, what’s wrong my son ?
Guy: Well, I’d really like to travel by car all the way to England, could a road be built to do that ?
Jesus: Are you nuts? It would take all the cement in the world, all the people in the world, all the equipment in the world to build that road. Sorry, it’s just out of the question.
Is there something else I might do for you ?
Guy: I’d like to see the Cubs in the world series
Jesus: How soon do you want that road ?
Why would anyone want to drive from Britain across Russia to get to America? Gulag tourism?
And the guy walking his bicycle across the intersection............
Russian drivers are insane!...................
I’m disappointed. I thought it would be through the ocean.
When I saw the headline, I initially thought someone might have come up with designs for a long road across the Atlantic, and I was wondering how they could do such a thing. What they DID propose is about as crazy! lol
Lada Lucky!...................
Kolyma, Kolyma.
Amazing planet.
Twelve months of winter.
The rest is summer.
Gulag ditty.
Indeed.
By the time you factor in gas, food, rooms plus wear and tear on the family trickster, plus the time investment, it’s probably cheaper just to fly.
Looks like a Soviet Lada which is a copy of a 1970’s Fiat 124 sedan. FIAT built a factory in the USSR in the new city of Togliatti, named for the Italian communist party leader.
IIRC most Russian drivers install cameras in their cars due to the still corrupt Russian police.
Going over a Bering straits bridge would be fun in the winter. I don’t know if a tunnel is possible.
If you count dirt roads, you could drive from South Africa to the southern tip of Argentina. I have no idea of how long that trip would be.
