How many Americans know what the capital of Victoria or New South Wales is? Or even the Capital of Australia for that matter?

Don’t know right off the top, but if I was writing a story like this, I’d be sure to look it up....

It’s interesting, I did a search on this (the name Kierraonna Rice is obviously pretty unique). It was reported in media all over the world, in a lot of languages.
Surprising to me, I’d consider it just another gangsta get together.

Well, if any Americans are writing for a supposed "news" outlet, and they get the capital of New South Wales wrong, the Australians are more than welcome to make fun of the author as an ignorant hack. Are you suggesting that we just do away with standards all together?

Of course, the correct answer to “what is the capital of the United States?” is “there isn’t one.” We have a “seat of government,” not a capital. At least according to the Constitution (Article I, Sec. 8, and the 23rd amendment).

OK so I went to school in New Zealand...that’s Wellington..

Google or preferably Bing, can be a reporters friend.

Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, ACT.
But how many conservative journalists would post the capital of anywhere without first double-checking?
[Except for WND.]
