Barnard College May Ease Language and Science Recs and Add a Diversity One
KATHERINE TIMPF February 20, 2015
Diversity course would focus on local, cultural, and social issues. Barnard College is considering cutting back on the schools language and laboratory-science requirements and add a diversity requirement. The new rules would decrease the language requirement to two semesters and the laboratory-science requirement to one semester The changes would add a technology requirement as well.
The diversity requirement would replace a category called Cultures in Comparison, which covers various cultures and countries, and would focus on local, global, and social issues, according to an article published in the Columbia Spectator.

The Roman Empire collapsed after introducing diversity training in their army, and diversity courses in their universities.
Something to keep in mind about America...
There must be some anti-intellectual, Marxist activist driving curriculum decisions at this once fine college. What’s described will drive the final nail into the coffin of what was once called “a liberal arts education.”
“Barnard College is considering cutting back on the schools language and laboratory-science requirements and add a diversity requirement.”
The left is constantly bemoaning the lack of women in the sciences, and now one of the most liberal women’s colleges is doing this?
Nuttiness. Pure nuttiness.
Yay. Two semesters of Ebonics and four years of blame whitey.
The simple fact is that most women (and many men) have no interest in doing the work required to excel in the STEM fields; the women demand the pay/titles, but don’t want the actual work.
I see the same in finance; just pay them, but don’t expect anything. On a positive note, I’ve been working a lot less hours since they started promoting tokens; what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Why would I work a minute of unpaid overtime (as a “salaried” worker) when the tokens already come in later/leave earlier than me?

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.” - H. L. Mencken quotes from BrainyQuote.com.
There are times... more and more frequently too, when I think that our current experiment in a ‘representative republic’ is doomed to failure. But then I have the feeling of hope that this is like a pendulum and it will swing back eventually to a better place.
Frankly... only time will tell.
Barnard’s requirements are based on its Nine Ways of Knowing framework. The nine ways are cultures in comparison, historical studies, laboratory science, language, literature, quantitative and deductive reasoning, ethics and values, social analysis, and the visual and performing arts. There used to be a physical education requirement, as well.
Easy way to open doors to dumber and dumber students - keeps the money flowing in...
PC history of science should not count as science.
Yes, only time will tell...
