Barnard’s requirements are based on its Nine Ways of Knowing framework. The nine ways are cultures in comparison, historical studies, laboratory science, language, literature, quantitative and deductive reasoning, ethics and values, social analysis, and the visual and performing arts. There used to be a physical education requirement, as well.
