The U.S. can’t defeat the Islamic State by “killing them,” State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Monday night.
“We’re killing a lot of them, and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war,” Harf said.
Instead, she said the U.S. needs to focus on the “medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups,” such as “lack of opportunity for jobs.”
Matthews pushed back slightly, telling his guest that the United States isn’t going to be able to fix those kinds of societal problems in “fifty lifetimes.”

This is what I think is going on:
If you look at the map of the Iraq region, you will see Saudi-Arabia, then Iraq, then Turkey, then Georgia, which Putin just acquired, then you see Ukraine (which Putin is fighting for right now)....
Then you put this all together, you have OIL....oil for all of Europe, (Spain, France, Germany,Denmark, Sweden, Finland....
So if you look and think what is so important to this area, its OIL...and Saudi is oil drunk....
My question is this: Is this why bamba is trying to shut down the keystone pipeline here in Canada and the United States? Is he helping ISIS to fight this OIL war????
He is a Muslim and he certainly hates America, so this is my idea of what is happening....ISIS is the MOST hated MOB there is and bamaba and Putin what it that way...is this why bamba bows down to these leaders?
This is why Obama, Clinton, et al have engaged in Operation Arab Spring.
Overthrowing the governments of Egypt, Libya, and Syria is how they intend(ed) to “created opportunity” for the people of these countries.
That’s right.
Only Muslims can fix this. We cannot.
It is not our business to protect some Muslims from other Muslims.
Add a community centers, some streets named 'Mohammad', and a few job training programs... That should do it. War's over.
The problem is once they get enough power they will come here.
By some convoluted logic from a parallel universe, this strategery might work. But back here in the real world, killing the enemy is a very good way of stopping continued assaults and deadly engagements once and for all. These people shall NEVER be reformed, so the proper and fully justified course of action is to remove them from the gene pool.
If there is a little collateral damage incurred that happens to take some “moderate” Muslims in the close vicinity, then the lesson is doubly reinforced - “moderate” Muslims must in no circumstances willingly be anywhere near the Jihadists.
That “religion” is unreformable.
It really does boggle the mind. For example, it would have been easy for either McCain or Romney to work this into one of the debates: "Mr. Obama, I have released my college records. Why won't you release your college records?"
And another thing. Look at the debate moderators. All lefties! One 2008 debate moderator, Gwen Ifill, was actually writing a fawning book about Obama at the time. And yet the GOP let her moderate a debate. Unbelievable.
Today's GOP just won't punch.
“Arf” is not “beautiful but dumb.” She’s just dumb.

Calling her a bopper is doing a disservice to boppers. She’ an even bigger moron than her “boss” Jen Psaki They are a couple of “valley girls.”
In other words, give them billions of dollars we don’t have to pay them to leave us alone. And when that doesn’t work it will be because of the greedy rich and Republicans for not giving them enough money.
Sounds like we are being blackmailed to me.
Obama may not be a practicing muslim but he sure as hell is aiding them every way he can.

Of course, even implying he’s not the smartest guy ever to run for the presidency would be.... wait for it...

I sent a copy of her statements in an e- mail to friends this AM that read:
We can laugh at the Obama administration’s failure to admit that practicing Islam as written in the Koran and Hadiths is the worldwide problem, but now it is getting dangerous for the survival of this country, as our leadership trys to obfuscate the problem.
( Like George Bush’s stupid “Islam is a Religion of Peace” statement.)

Our own people don’t have jobs. Probably more people without jobs here than any previous time in US history. The President has been able to do nothing about that here, who believes he could create jobs anywhere else?
In fact,the real problem is the same here as there. An authoritarian, centralized, socialist government. And centralized corruption. So after we do all this killing she’s talking about, are we going to ban socialism and corruption over there? I say, start in Chicago.
Let’s see:
Korea- ceasefire. No victory
Vietnam: lost
Gulf war 1: met goal of kicking out Iraq. Victory?
Gulf war 2: defeated Saddam. Lost to Isis?
Afghanistan: no victory, will lose to Taliban?
U.S. revolution 2: just beginning.
The Atlantic has a vey worthwhile article about ISIS. (was posted on FR yesterday). The Obama administration would do well to read it. The ISIS adherents don’t want no freakin’ jobs. They are socialists/communists who believe the Caliphate must provide free food, clothing, shelter, and medical care to all the insiders. Economic base for this is conquest, slaves, captive women and children. They seek Apocalypse Now, not a career.
History tells us the way to win a conventional war: destroy the enemy’s forces in the field. Has always worked, always will. Anything else dictates a do-over. ISIS ideology seeks a conventional war. We should encourage and facilitate concentration of all ISIS jihadis in northern Syria. Use proxy ground forces to cause them to mass, then bomb to oblivion.
