Governor Palin wowed the crowd as she arrived on the "red carpet" for Saturday Night Lives 40th Anniversary 3-hour special.
She stopped on the "red carpet" to talk with actor Alec Baldwin, quipping that she likes his brother, Stephen a conservative better. NBC anchors Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer intereviewed the two of them, and it may be me, but it seemed as though Baldwin was doing his best to keep Gov. Palin from talking. After Guthrie asked her a direct question, Baldwin was forced to listen, while chomping on his gum (or could it have been leftover food from dinner?)
Twitchy caught some of the action on Twitter, where some scoffed at the dress Governor Palin was wearing because it may have been one Bristol has worn (as Taylor would say: "haters gonna hate hat hate"). Others opined that she was "killin that dress." Afterall, I doubt not many Moms can wear their 24-year old daughters dress and look fantastic.
Inside the studio, Governor Palin was seated next to Taylor Swift (2011 Country Music Entertainer of the Year, and other awards). By the looks of the photos chosen to accompany an article, it seemed as though some in the media tried to suggest that Taylor wasnt happy about the seating arrangments. Of course, the media is known for contorting anything (read: Brian Williams) if it will make a headline or drive clicks to their site.
Best-selling author, Brad Thor, who moved from Chicago to Tennesee to escape the high taxes of liberal Illinois, gave a shout-out to Gov. Palin:
Breitbart has a nice recap of her appearance, which was part of a segment where comedian Jerry Seinfeld takes questions from the audience beginning with longtime actor Michael Douglas, and ending (at the 6-minute mark) with a question from "Tina" oh, wait. Seinfeld corrected himself, "Governor Palin.
How much do you think Lorne Michaels would pay me if I were to run in 2016?
I dont think theres a number too big, Seinfeld replied.
What if I were to choose Donald Trump as my running mate? Palin asked.
Sarah, youre teasing us, thats not nice, Seinfeld joked.
Not sure why, but some media outlets (Hollywood Reporter, Yahoo) claimed the Governor was making a "surprise" appearance. News about Lorne Michael and the Saturday Night Live team inviting her appeared in People magazine and other outlets on February 4.
No doubt, there will be more to follow. As of this writing, neither the Governor nor Taylor Swift had not sent any messages out via her social media platforms.
Oh so nice.Thanks for posting.
technically, he was actually working for the good guys (anti-hydra-shield for fury). cap was still helping hydra-shield, unknowingly.
since you referenced the movie, there was something very interesting to note about the story line and how it relates to real life. almost as if the author was trying to get the word out.
(if you haven’t seen ‘the winter soldier’ sorry for spoilers... but come on, it’s been almost a year)
movie:
1. hydra, the bad guys working with the nazis
2. they lose ww2 and go into hiding
3. they hide inside shield
4. they work from inside to create chaos around the world
5. their goal is to get the world to beg them (hydra-shield) to ‘protect’ us against terrorism
6. they infiltrate all branches of govt
7. their mission is to rule the world via shield
real-life:
1. progressives align with the nazis pre-ww2
2. nazis lose ww2
3. progressives go into hiding
4. progressives resurface inside the democrat party
5. democrat-progressives sell panic and dependency to grow cradle-to-grave society
6. progressives infiltrate the republican party
7. their mission is to rule the world via military might and corruption
He had “another commitment” which probably means someone along the line said FU to someone else.
He was barely mentioned.
She was the highlight of that self congratulatory lib fest last night.
How was the skit with Victoria Jackson?
Where was Victoria Jackson?
“Some truths about the a##clown”
The most tolerable truths.
But the real challenge is, name one personal fact about the
Obama that can be factually proven other than you can see
him and he takes up space.
Hint: “from unknown origin.”
I must say I was quite impressed. It wasn't an "awards" show a all, but simply a celebration of the past 40 years. Many classic skits were resurrected (to varying degrees of success) and I liked the fact that it was basically a long-form episode of SNL - albeit in prime-time.
Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfeld and Sarah Palin killed in their segments. Chevy Chase...what the hell happened to him? He looked like a corpse out there.
The musical guests were questionable which is my only real beef with the show over the past 40 years. I always felt that Lorne Michaels played it too safe with the music guests and should have booked more edgier acts - but that's my opinion. I always tuned into the show for the skits and Weekend Update anyhow, so musical guests was usually a chance to hit the bathroom or make a late-night sandwich.
For those wondering about Dennis Miller and Victoria Jackson, I don't know what's up with that. I do know that Lorne Michaels went out his way to invite EVERY cast member, guest host and musical act that ever appeared on the show over the past 40 years. So nobody was snubbed over their politics, as some here are trying to infer.
Seeing original cast members like Jane Curtin, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase was sobering - they all got so old! I think all of them are well into their 60s now, with Chevy looking like he's 90.
The tribute to the deceased cast and staff of SNL was nice and in true SNL fashion, they added some humor to it by pretending that Jon Lovitz was also dead, even though the camera kept panning to him sitting in the audience.
So I mentioned up top that I've been watching the show since it's debut in 1975. I was just a teenager then. I found out about the show before its debut as there was a feature article, in The New Yorker I believe, talking about this new variety show that was going to be filmed live in New York City.
In August of that year, I had made my first trip to NYC and went to the RCA building as part of my tour. So when I saw the article about the show that would be produced there, I made it a point to check it out so on October 11, 1975, I stayed up way past my bedtime to watch the entire thing. While that particular show was hardly up to the standard it would achieve shortly thereafter, I was hooked in and have pretty much seen every episode over the next 40 years including the Mardi Gras epic fail in 1977, the only time SNL did not broadcast from 30 Rockefeller, which Lorne Michaels never allowed on television again. (You can probably get it on DVD.)
I know I will get an argument from many here, but I always thought the humor on SNL was well balanced and hit liberals just as hard as they hit conservatives. When you are a politician, these late night "attacks" go with the territory. Over the years, I think politicians like Jerry Ford, George Bush and Sarah Palin handled their treatment on SNL very well. Others like Mike Dukakis, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, not so well, and they suffered for it.
Yea. And where was Toonces, the Cat Who Could Drive a Car.
Hillary ran the sluts and nuts teams that protected her husband from the women he abused. Hillary devised the 'vast right wing conspiracy' excuse to cover for Bill's 'excesses'... AND Hillary assisted with the Benghazi 'video' lie. All major accomplishments...
Smokin...
Not muskrat. There are no muskrats in AK that I know of. More likely seal or sea otter. Todd is half Yupik, his mother, or a friend or acquaintance, probably made it for her. She is always proud to wear or show hand-crafted Alaskan things. She is proud of Alaska, and proud of its artisans. I don't blame her.
It was nice to see Sarah make fun of her image

GO SARAH!
Me too, but I'm OLD!
I used to think combat boots were an affront to femininity, but I would take them over the current crop of ugly shoes that women wear. I am old enough to remember when "Yer mammie wears combat boots" was an insult.
I have several pieces of gold, including my watchband, which has dall rams on it. I have worn it for thirty years. LOL! Ivory, jade, and gold earrings, as well as several pieces of carved silver. Took me a long time to accumulate them, but they were cheap when I bought them! Now that I no longer live in Alaska, I cherish them even more. Even have some furs. (Can I say that on here??)
