North Texas is now home to the first official Islamic Tribunal in the U.S.
Comprised of four judges, the Islamic Tribunal follows Sharia Law, a Muslim religious moral code that settles disputes in many countries in the Middle East.
Located at a mosque in Irving, Texas, such an establishment may come as a shock to many Americans who, as U.S. citizens, first and foremost live and abide by the nations state and federal laws. [ ]
Tribunal judge Dr. Taher El-badawi says that the tribunal will not handle cases involving criminal law, child support, custody battles, or transfers of assets.
But divorce often involves child support, custody battles, and transfers of assets. Will the line between their religious moral code and U.S. family law remain clear?

I cannot understand why Texas would allow this in their state.
How about that crap. The religion of pieces is setting up house in the good old USA with all of their customs like chopping off hands and heads, stoning people to death, crucifying people, child sex slaves, the whole dark disaster.
Welcome to Obama’s fundamentally transformed America. Worst is yet to come.
Congratulations, Texans!
I know Ted Cruz’ desk must piled high & deep w/o adding another problem to it but I don’t think the Guv of Texas is up to the job & allowing this travesty of a religious court to dictate civil law. correct me if i’m wrong
If all parties to a civil matter freely agree on a venue for settlement then I see no problem.
A muslim ran for mayor of Richardson, TX and he got trounced bigtime.
“If all parties to a civil matter freely agree on a venue for settlement then I see no problem.”
There is no “freely” in Islam. It is Allah’s will, and the Koran demands blood of infidels and superiority of Muslims over non-Muslims.
Keep hoping that this is just another day in the park.
Isn’t this beyond ‘freedom of religion’? More abuse of our freedoms. Sharia law is not compatible with freedom, with America, and anyone supporting it should be charged with treason, deported, jailed, or even executed if they attempt to practice it.
What’s free agreement under Sharia?
Never mind the attack on native US jurisprudence.
I read this and wonder why they shut down the Yearning for Zion Ranch compound. Aren’t they letting Muslims determine their law but denied the same for the FLDS?
Muslims are the only immigrants who are taught to hate Americans, Cchristians, and Jjews. And to use lies and violence to take over and subjugate us. There can be peaceful Muslims yes. And Sometimes some other individual immigrants cause troubles — but it’s the Muslims who are trained as a group to be a hostile force in our midst. This makes them extremely dangerous and we’re damned fools to let our ruling elite sell us out like this.
DC heard you and is shoving it up our collective butts. .
Of all places . . . TEXAS!!!!
Thankfully, TN has an anti-shariah law and it was to stop just this sort of thing from happening here.
So if all parties involved agree a man can cut off his wife’s hand for refusing to cook something he requested?
“...but I dont think the Guv of Texas is up to the job & allowing this travesty of a religious court to dictate civil law. correct me if im wrong”
Yes, you are wrong. This has just happened so give our new governor, who was our Attorney General, Greg Abbott, and our vast majority of Republican state office holders, some time to deal with this. If this group goes afoul of Texas law, they will be in court. They can counsel all they want, freedom of religion and speech, but cannot act against Texas law.
Ping to 17.
[ I know Ted Cruz desk must piled high & deep w/o adding another problem to it but I dont think the Guv of Texas is up to the job & allowing this travesty of a religious court to dictate civil law. correct me if im wrong ]
I think Gregg Abbott will get to it after he gets all the other crap he is dealing with from Perry’s administration taken care of.
[ So if all parties involved agree a man can cut off his wifes hand for refusing to cook something he requested? ]
So how does cutting off a wife’s hand make her able to cook at the same level she previously did?
After a while you end up with a wife that can’t cook? Or do you stone her when you run out of hands to chop off?
