Jordan said Thursday it had launched air strikes against the Islamic State group, after vowing a harsh response to the burning alive of one of its fighter pilots.

"The Jordanian air force launched raids against positions of the Islamic State group," said a government official, who did not want to be named.

Meanwhile the gruesome death of Moaz al-Kasasbeh drew a torrent of condemnation across the world.

Hashtags to express grief over Kasasbeh's death have taken over Twitter only hours after the news broke out on Tuesday, Al Arabiya News reported Wednesday.

The Government of Jordan just posted this picture of King Abdullah on their Facebook page. It is rumored that he participated in the retaliatory strike which killed 55+ ISIS fighters.

I hope Jordan's intelligence has improved significantly since last month. As late as 2/2 Jordan was negotiating with IS/ISIS/ISIL/Daesh up until they confirmed this pilot's videotaped incineration which took place on January 5th.

This suggests that Jordan was not aware of the death of their pilot for several weeks.

Those weeks provide ample time ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh to move, and set Jordan up for a propaganda retaliation hit against innocents (perhaps the remaining Yazidi and other captives).

Yeah, I heard that as well - that he actually flew a sortee with the rest of the airstrike.

ISIS IS Turkey.

Turkey supplies ISIS.

Turkey aids ISIS fighters who are wounded.

Turkey opened hundreds of ISIS facilities all over the country.

Turkey helps ISIS fighters go to the front.

Turkey is the transit country for land-locked ISIS’s weapons.

Turkey is the buyer of ISIS’s oil.

ISIS is just a Turkish front group.

I just read this...
“The monarch may personally take part in bombing raids on extremist strongholds on Thursday, according to reports in Arabic-language newspapers.”

ISIS is just a Turkish front group.

Then why were they fighting so hard in Kobane?

well, the King’s mother was American.

Actually a Brit but he spent his teenage years in US schools. He then went to Sandhurst ( U.K. West Point ) and was a serving officer in the UK army for a year or so. He's also an economic an social reformer. Jordanian economy has prospered under his rule.

I have a friend whose husband and her, in April right after Easter, are goiing on a cruise to parts of Italy, as well as to Greece and Turkey. What I read got me a bit concerned.

Also if my memory is correct, Jordan has an agreement with Israel military help-wise.

Jordan may be doing more than just bombing ISIL. There are reports that they may have "boots on the ground" Jordanian Special Forces . Interestingly when his father was alive Abdullah was in charge of the Jordanian Special Forces. My guess is he's a pretty shrewd guy.

I believe you are right. But when they are overrun with ISIS they will call on NATO forces to help them out.

We should refuse.

I repeat. WE SHOULD NOT BE OVER THERE AT ALL DEFENDING SOME MUSLIMS AGAINST OTHER MUSLIMS.

Let them duke it out.

A truly sad thought, but I wonder if the pilots know of the poem Fiddlers Green.

Godspeed to them all, no matter how they pray in this fight.

How far have we fallen, and how pathetic are we, when we find ourselves wishing that the president had half as much resolve, strength, and guts as the leader of a Muslim country?

Yet I find myself in that position.
