Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is making fun of Chinese accents on Twitter while on official business in the country. In a tweet on Wednesday, first reported by Bloomberg, she wrote about her trip, replacing "r"s with "l"s in the words arroz (rice) and petróleo (petroleum).

She then tweeted a non-apology:
Sorry. ¿Sabes qué? Es que es tanto el exceso del ridículo y el absurdo, que sólo se digiere con humor. Sino son muy, pero muy tóxicos. Cristina Kirchner (@CFKArgentina) February 4, 2015
Translation: "Sorry. You know what? It's just that the ridiculousness and absurdity is so high, that it can only be understood through humor. If not, it's very, very toxic."
The problem with this beyond that it's incredibly insulting to the Chinese is that it's bad for Argentina's economy.
Fernandez needs China. Badly. Since last year, Fernandez has been working with Chinese President Xi Jinping on a currency swap to get cash to her country and replenish Argentina's notoriously low reserves.

Mandarin DOES have the ‘r’ sound in it ( I know, I’ve learned speak the language ).
I wonder which of the Chinese dialects she’s making fun of...
The eye doctor said I have a cadaract. I said, “no, i have a Rincoln”.
Beat me to it! :-)
Bah!
Mucho ado about nada mucho. 8<)
(Now, a North Korean dictator mught care, an Islamic dictator like Obola might care - although both would insult others accidentally by NOT caring about others, but Chinese presidents are too pragmatic to care - if they themselves would not come right back with another pun. (Except the Chinese pun would be inside the pictograph, and far more subtle and far more carefullt written and skillfully drawn. )
For example, the next silk wrapping this woman receives for a state gift will be labelled (inverted and un-side-down in the Chinese) “Maid in Brazil To Honor Your Loss of the Falklands”
Heard that before but forgot that it was too funny! Lord, I grew up in the 50’s - it was such an un PC time in history. We would be arrested by the PC idiots for our jokes back then. And, I’m part Polish so you can imagine what I went through - HA. I don’t believe any of it was said maliciously not like what is said on twitter anonymously these days.
“We don’t make that sort of joke in this country,” said the U.S. representative, Ambassador Sum Ting Wong.
Gosh....her and Hillary are so funny when they have men killed.
Leftists are soooo un-funny........................
Here is something for her to practice her Chinese R's!
It seems that people in the Orient and Middle East are afflicted with thin skin and no sense of humor.
The worst part is that there will be idiots who are more outraged over this triviality than the murder of a prosecutor who was about to issue a warrant for her arrest.
Interestingly, she does offer the lamest excuses imaginable for her crimes. Just like our gal.
Ambassador Wong went on to say, "In fact, I love Chinese food. My favorite dish is Sum Yung Gai."
At least she didn’t wish him luck with his election.

Well...at least we’re not the only country with one of those kind of leaders.
She is busy destroying her country like Venezuela.
Now that’s a tongue twister I’d like anyone to master ( with the up and down sound in Mandarin to boost ).
But my point is this Kirchner is ignorant. Mandarin DOES have the ‘r’ sound and people who speak it CAN pronounce the ‘r’ sound.
For instance in Chinese,
MEAT is Rou.
Hot is Re.
Software is Ruan Jian.
They all have the ‘R’ sound.
Maybe she’s making fun of those who speak Cantonese.
I imagine she's thinking of Japanese...
