GRESHAM, Ore. A Gresham bakery discriminated against a same-sex couple who wanted to purchase a wedding cake, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries announced Monday.
The owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery will have to pay the couple up to $150,000, BOLI spokesman Charlie Burr said. The exact amount will be determined at a hearing on March 10.

It’s so sad that these people are being put through the wringer, and probably losing their business, because making such a cake isn’t even a sin.
Your God must have sand in His eye so that He winks.
Was there a trial of any kind or is this just some government agency declaring them guilty and fining them?
Oh come on. NO appeal of this nonsense?!!??!!
They aren't being fined, their corporation is. That's what everyone is missing here - it's a corporate issue.
[crickets]
If they were insured, their insurance co will pay. They have no say in it.
Well, not really...
If the ‘couple’ are paid by the bakery’s insurance co and don’t promptly donate the leftovers after paying their lawyers...
...it was a money issue all along (aside from the obvious activism).
A country that allows things like this to happen is truly sick in the head. America has become a hell of a demented place.
I would contend that it is a violation of both.
Liberals contend that since a person is being paid, it is not slavery.
I checked the map, and it looks like all of Gresham, Oregon is within 3 or 4 miles of the Washington state line.
They could move across the river, set up shop, and probably keep a lot of their regular customers.
Wow, makes me want to not patronize businesses with gays.
From the online comments it seems they are doing business online only now, with no listed phone or address, only through email and probably only with customers they know and trust.
Holy crap, man, Washington State (because of Sea-Tac and much of the West Side) is even farther along the path to Stalinism than is Oregon.
How does that work. Does the state build a moat around the asserts and prevents any negatories from getting through?
F@ them to hell and the judge and anyone who supports them.
Is that like the muslim tax on infidel religions?
Bingo. Adios to jury trials, to liberty.
The owners should have unionized and called a wildcat strike over working conditions when the unwanted business walked in.
Explain to me why it’s a sin for a bakery to make a cake.
Apparently it's gone.
