An MIT professor of meteorology is dismissing global-warming alarmists as a discredited “cult” whose members are becoming more hysterical as emerging evidence continues to contradict their beliefs.
During an appearance on this writer’s radio show Monday, MIT Professor emeritus Richard Lindzen discussed the religious nature of the movement.
“As with any cult, once the mythology of the cult begins falling apart, instead of saying, oh, we were wrong, they get more and more fanatical. I think that’s what’s happening here. Think about it,” he said. “You’ve led an unpleasant life, you haven’t led a very virtuous life, but now you’re told, you get absolution if you watch your carbon footprint. It’s salvation!”
Lindzen, 74, has issued calm dismissals of warmist apocalypse, reducing his critics to sputtering rage.

Lindzen said he was fortunate to have gained tenure just as the “climate change” movement was beginning, because now non-believers are often ostracized in academia. In his career he has watched the hysteria of the 1970’s over “global cooling” morph into “global warming.”
It would seem all common sense things are ostracized.....climate change/global warming = spreading the wealth and making way to impose a hefty, lethal tax on top of the greatest bamboozle and fraud this nation has ever had foisted on its citizens....OBAMACARE.

and if the alarmist were really, truly concerned about the “health” of our planet/climate, wouldn’t they greedily consume information that shows that our planet is actually in good shape and be relieved & rejoice?

Regarding the increased fanaticism, it’s not really that their claims are falling apart.
It’s that their claims are being ignored by an apathetic public. There were HOWLS by my Lib FB friends a couple weeks back about how lower gasoline prices are spurring people to buy lower MPG cars.
The worst thing you can really do to a Liberal isn’t trying to challenge him. It’s to ignore him, and go about your business in spite of his claims and demands.

Not really. Lindzen spoke out even inside of academic papers, calling out the bad science on the other side. He also wrote many op eds making public critiques of the alarmist warming cult. Of course Lindzen is arguing that the feedback to CO2 warming is probably negative rather than positive, so he has a solid scientific debate going, not just rhetoric.
