President Barack Obama on Friday will propose making two years of community college free for students.
In a White House video posted Thursday evening, Obama said he wanted to offer “a little preview” of his plans for the Jan. 20 State of the Union address.
“What I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for everybody who’s willing to work for it,” Obama said. “It’s something we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anybody in the world.”
The proposal would make two years of community college free for students with a C+ average who attend school at least half-time and who are making “steady progress” toward their degree.

Just think of how many union teachers will have to be hired to teach all of the new students. The union dues will skyrocket. It should be called the teacher’s union employment act.
NO...many Community Colleges actually teach the subject matter and turn out students better equipped to handle the last two years of University, than the propaganda trained idiots who went there the first two years.

This is for those who don’t want to go.
Why? To provide a demand for unionized teachers- who don’t want to have to teach.
Teacher unions are backing the Hands up don’t shoot ,can’t breath bull , them need money

if the GOP caves on this then they deserve to lose big.

It already is - a neighbor teaches at a local juco and said so many of the kids can’t pass an entrance exam so they offer remedial reading comp/writing/algebra classes - so these kids are paying college rates to learn what they should have learned in high school for free.

It’s been awhile, but it used to be nearly free.
Just how expensive is it now?
You can already get this, if you know what you are doing
1. You are over 25
2. You were in the military
3. Your parents are so poor that you get enough grants to do this
4. You take your last 2 years in High School at tech school (only available right now for the brightest of students; I believe that this should be expanded to students who want trades so they graduate with both a HS diploma and an associates degree that allows them to get a job out of HS, or two years towards college. It would end the duplication of coursework in the last two years of high school and the first two years of college if one chooses to pursue a bachelors, and result in a net savings to taxpayers and students alike).
Sure.....after working my way through an evening college program (this took me ten years to earn a BS degree..... working full time and going to college one or two courses per quarter) .....I am HONORED to pay for college for somebody else. Honored, I tell you.
