This week, I dropped the "R".

This week I went online and changed my voter registration from Republican to Unaffiliated. Didn't see the point and it felt good. Anyone else?

My state doesn’t require registration. But I ended my lifelong support and exclusive-voting pattern for the GOP. The Party just no longer represents my values or my views. Every issue that ever compelled me to support the GOP, they have now deserted. I’m seeing them now funding things like amnesty and Obamacare, and totally surrendering on issues like homo-marriage.

Hence, absolutely no reason I can see to ever give the GOP my vote again. First began losing respect for the Party when the GOP leadership repeatedly backstabbed Palin, following up with the nomination of a Massachusetts liberal like Romney. But these recent events have put the final nail in the coffin, proving once and for all that the GOP shares the same abject contempt for my beliefs and for my values that the Dems do.

In Maine, like Boston, we drop the R from words like “Car” (Cah) and “Lobster” (Lobstah).

However, because of the Law of Conservation of Rs, we then add ADD an R to words like “Alabama” (Alabamer) and “Banana” (Bananer)

The very day of the vote for Speaker, as soon as the results were announced I went over and re-registered as an Independent. Kind of sad since I originally registered as a Republican in 1973, but they left me, I didn’t leave them!

I’ve been unaffiliated for a very long time. I’ve voted in primaries of both major parties, but in recent years have voted only in the Republican ones, while retaining my Independent status.

However I—and every one else—vote, the pro-”gay”, pro-Third World immigration, pro-abortion, pro-neocon/liberal interventionist, pro-obamacare, and anti-Christian (especially anti-Orthodox Christian) side always wins! PHOOEY!!!!

Ok...I agree Republicans are traitorous cowards hellbent on the destruction of this nation and lining their wallets as much as Demonic Democrats. Fine!

But when JEB is going against the Hildabeast or Reservation Wannabe Warren who you gonna vote for?

Chances are, voting for Conservatives is going to be more difficult. The Whigs changed the convention and primary rules. Even if a Conservative did get nominated, the party would work to defeat him.

Col. West is the perfect example of what Conservatives can expect from the Whigs. He lost his seat because the Florida Republicans (majority)redistricted him out of a seat and gave it to Alan Grayson.

And you still think you can reform the Whigs from within?

I don't blame you. I quit when the party engineered Romney's nomination. I realized then that my vote didn't count. The party picked the candidates, not the voters.

So now I vote in general elections (can't vote in primaries in this state) , but I will write in the candidate I want. For example, I'm sure the party will anoint another liberal in 2016. So I will write in a conservative, if I can find one I can trust.

i am considering... living in this liberal mecca of CA. Me thinks being a D (not “I”) would allow me to mess with the obvious here... because “R” don’t mean crap; and i could care less about choosing between Jack Ass Jeb and any other Romney like fu$khead.

the US public is tooooo damn stupid to stop this crap. i know... i live here.

Conservatives will deny the Republicans the Presidency in 2016.

Actually, in a convoluted sense I have become a RINO. I am remaining registered Republican so that I can vote for Cruz in 2016, but it is difficult to think of myself as a member of the Republican Party: Lucy has pulled the football one time too many.

We’ve always been independents - waiting for a small government, constitutional party to emerge.

If you live in a state where you can participate in primary votes while registered as an independent/unaffiliated, there is no harm. If you live in a state where you must be registered to a party in order to vote in its primary, you’re disenfranchising yourself. People have died to give you the right to vote; but I guess they also died for your right to throw it all away.

As for me, I’m staying registered as a Republican and am fighting to continue moving it toward conservatism. It’s a long fight and I expect we’ll continue to see deserters from the fight.

I ceased being a Republican two weeks after Sarah Palin failed to be elected Vice President.
