This week I went online and changed my voter registration from Republican to Unaffiliated. Didn't see the point and it felt good. Anyone else?
I did as well.
The “R” left me long ago. I returned the favor.
very understandable.
the only comment we can add is...
in some states you have to be a member of a party to vote in its primary
and you just could want someday to vote in a R primary, say for a more conservative candidate rather than a RINO-E liberal candidate
otherwise, you did what may be a good move for sure!
I changed after the McCain debacle. Independent.
It do feel good!
I did it a few months ago-after 52 years as a “R.”
I may go back in a year. It will depend on who is running. I just want to send a message to them by having them see the thinning numbers.
I did so about 13 months ago. I joined the Libertarian party when I realized I had more issues and disagreement with the GOP than I did with the LP, sad to say.I was a Republican for 34 years.
Ted Cruz is the only Texan in Congress that truly represents me. My Congressman John Carter and Senator John Cornyn are liars and fakes.
I did it in 2008. The McCain choice was the final straw.
Welcome.
In the area where I live several of the county Republican Parties have successfully taken control of the county commission. One is 100% Republican and others have control. Twenty-five years ago there were no Republicans on the Board of Commissioners - all Democrats. Also the Republicans in NC have complete control of the State government, including the Governorship. It is good to be Republican in North Carolina.
And, I might add, it didn’t happen by chance, as the State Republicans worked diligently to win the confidence of the people. One Democrat Legislator (Dare County) announce yesterday he was leaving the Democrats and registered as Unaffiliated saying will caucus with the Republicans.
To win nationally, we must win locally first.
I’m remaining “R” to avoid all the robo calls and junk mail that would come my way if I changed to Independent.
I just moved to Alaska and got my drivers last week. Lifelong Republican but registered as unaffiliated.
Ive been an Independent for over seven years, what took you so long?
I’ve been an Independent since 1992.
I will remain a registered Republican. I believe in what the party stands for deespite some (too many) of its leaders not adhering to its principles. RINOS or other party apostates don’t change what the party was founded upon. I also think a third party route will only ensure lib Dem victory.
Welcome to the club. I dropped the "R" in 1991 after "Read my lips, no new taxes" became a broken promise.
Have never regretted my decision. The STUPID Party (R) is not my party.
Ditto. I see the primaries as the best hope of getting conservatives. My state won’t allow Independents to vote in party primaries.
The repubs died when they ran McCain against Obama.
