Late last year, Obama asked the Federal Communications Commission to create a new set of rules to make sure everyone has access to the Internet and that phone and cable companies would not be allowed "to act as a gatekeeper, restricting what you can do or see online."

You git da gold star!!! Good one! Yer doin the lords work, fer shur!
Too much free speech going on for the Marxist.
Not enough porn.
Barry wants to control free speech on the internet like the Marxist simpleton that he is.
It sounds like commie boy is looking for another way to steal other people’s money.
Fedrule Air Traffuk Cuntroll werkers nevur git enuf uv that stuff!!!
Whatever he does, the effect is always the exact OPPOSITE.
He ALWAYS is running some viciously evil, secret back-game.
The man is congenitally incapable of telling the truth.
10x worse than Nixon.
He’s an antennae-waving, mandible-clicking INSECT.
Yeah, because that's Big Brother's domain, not the private sector.
I thought VoiceStream, GT&E, SBC & al were already regulated, to some extent by virtue of being telephone companies. How much further can you regulate them? I’m getting a good deal on my wireless dial-up Internet plan; new regulations would easily get me to $60+, BEFORE buying extra data:

(It’s near the bottom of the page)
Bingo!
“What on earth is the internet doing wrong that requires regulation???”
It’s not pouring cash into Federal coffers, and we can say what we want, even criticizing our leaders. We can get news from many sources, not just ones that sell Official Reality. We can see what British newspapers say, we can even click up al Jazeera or Drudge or Breitbart or Huffpo without anyone telling us what to see or read. We can see real science data on Global Warming, and read congressional bill contents before they are voted on [in the Old Days I’d call my rep to learn of a new bill and he’d graciously mail a printed copy that would arrive a day after it was voted on]. We can communicate freely.
We can organize political events, and learn of other people’s events.
Among other dire faults, I think I hit the big ones.
This is the Power To The People that was chanted about in the 60s, except that now it’s a threat.
I expect that once this regulatory action is taken there will be strict regulations against hate Speech of any kind, and a requirement for “fairness”.
I just can’t help myself wondering how many of these righteous freepers on this thread railing against Obama were too true to their principles to vote for a rino like McCain or (Katie bar the door) Romney. Well the chickens have officially come home to roost. My right honorable friends let’s just remember that in 2016. Elections have consequences.
Telling the truth that the MSM won’t
Dictators have to have total control over everything or they lose control.
Google Strikes an Upbeat Note With FCC on Title II
'But in a letter Tuesday to the FCC, Googles director of communications law Austin Schlick highlighted a potential positive for the company if Title II kicks in. As a regulated telecom service, Google Fiber would get access to utility poles and other essential infrastructure owned by utilities. The FCC should make sure this happens because it would promote competition and spur more investment and deployment of broadband internet service, Schlick argued.
Cable and telecom companies, like Comcast CMCSA -1.14% and AT&T T +0.83%, have long had the right to access utility poles and other important infrastructure, such as ducts, conduits and rights of way, he noted. Google Fiber, which competes against these companies, has not had this right and the service has had trouble getting access to some poles as it builds out its fiber-optic network to homes.
I wonder who in the white house and in congress KNOW the birth certificate is fake.
As for the cable companies controlling the internet, I wish something would be done about it. In my area Comcast has a monopoly. I may be able to get ATT U-verse but it would be with a two year contract. The price is good for a year then they stick it to you the next year. Right now I’m paying Comcast $52 a month for internet. With ATT it would be $14.95 the first year but, as the ad states, “other charges apply”. I think I’d have to pay for a land line.
So, obama is right in that a few people control what you pay for internet service. But I don’t trust him to do anything about it.
Regulation as a utility means he wants to charge us for it. (Nobody trusts him about anything, saying he wants to regulate in order to shut down any opposing viewpoints to his rule
The Internet , Guns and Freedom of Speech must go so Obama can stay in the White House forever
