I thought VoiceStream, GT&E, SBC & al were already regulated, to some extent by virtue of being telephone companies. How much further can you regulate them? I’m getting a good deal on my wireless dial-up Internet plan; new regulations would easily get me to $60+, BEFORE buying extra data:

Cable companies are regulated utilities, as well (Comcast, Time Warner Cable) - I don't know about satellite, other than spectrum regulation.

The benefit that comes from government meddling flows to cronies of the legislators.
