I really enjoy historical type dramas and this one is great...and addicting. Another Brit production I really liked was the British "Fall of Eagles" featuring a Starship Enterprise captain as Lenin.
The Crawleys are good people, but “house poor.”
I like how it is historically correct. I watched a PBS special about the guy who makes it so ... I have my favorites like: Mr. Bates, Daisy, Mr.Carson and that nasty guy, Thomas Barrow. Plus a few others.
I’m enjoying the same regimen having received the seasons 1-4 box set as a Christmas gift. Made it to the end of season 2 last night.
Found a gem on IMBD where Hugh Bonneville describes the show’s appeal - “It’s Breaking Bad with tea instead of meth.”
I really enjoy the series, too. Lately they’ve been rerunning episodes and I get sucked in, even though I know what is going to happen. It’s that good. They do manage to insert a little leftyism, but it doesn’t spoil it for me. I’m looking forward to Sunday night!
I binged all 4 seasons several months ago and have suffered many months of withdrawals waiting for it to start again.
Different from Downton Abbey though in that it was historically based and not the big budget production that Abbey is.
Thanks for the post... I didn’t realize it was starting again tomorrow!
That is GREAT news. Love this show.

Season 5 and producer/writer Julian Fellowes did get their share of criticisms in Naz's reviews and in comments on her reviews.
This is so far from the days of the brilliant “Upstairs, Downstairs” I don’t know where to begin. If you knew anything about the class system and the times when this drama takes place, you would reject it out right.
The “you” I’m using is generic, not directed at you, FRiend.
I’ve been hooked from the beginning. I have come to the conclusion that my favorite actress on this program is Penelope Wilton, cousin Isobel. She doesn’t need to speak. I enjoy it when she tosses her head, or clenches her teeth, or twitches her lips. Her interactions with Maggie Smith are the best!!
I did the same: binge-watchEd last springredients and looking forward to Sunday.
The author Julian Fellowes plays the character Kilwillie on the series Monarch of the Glen.
This is a good series also but perhaps not a polished as Downton Abbey. It is Downton Abbey in the present in Scotland rather than England
Keep it in mind for when Downton Abbey is over for the season.
It is fun and less pretentious
When you're a gal, and you would like a soap opera
You can always watch . . . Downton!
When you're a fella, and your maleness would stop ya
Go ahead and catch . . . Downton!
Just listen to the accents of the people in the Abbey!
They're British, don't be skittish, they will cheer you if you're crabby
Look at those clothes!
The suits are more tweedy there
You can critique all their dresses, critique all their hair
So go . . . Downton!
Plots will move slowly on
Downton!
Romances come and gone
Downton!
Everything's plodding along . . .
As a Brit, I loath this programme.
